Man, I lived in the midwest up until the mid 2000s, in Marietta, Ohio. I cant describe how perfectly this genre recreates all of those memories that I had there. I have since moved east, but the barren memories of my previous home are still there in my head. In a simpler time, there was only friends, family, and however far you could walk. Life is much different, friends have come and gone, some family has passed, and thats ok.
Same. I grew up in Michigan and moved away in my early 20's in 2006. Just recently got into this genre. I guess I had the wrong idea about it. I've always been a huge Indie fan and this genre has a lot of that feel. It really just feels like home. So bizarre. There's a band that's from the 90's that went wildly overlooked until after they had released all their material and that's The American Analog Set. Great rainy day/nostalgic band. Check them out.
"I'm sorry I misinterpreted our friendship" That line got me to tears honestly, the friendship to relationship thing is one of the most beautiful things and can also be one of the most hurtful things. Its filled with so much magic. So much power. The power to make you feel like heaven, the power to make you feel like hell. But once you're in it. Once you want more, there is no step back. Whatever you do, if your heart belongs to a close friend, you're ready to go through hell for it because you cant imagine life without the love. Even if its unrequited. It makes you feel like shit if it's not mutual, but it makes you feel alive. After nearly 2 years, I would not want to live without you. Even though it sometimes makes me feel like hell, it's better than feeling nothing. I rather be a friend to you but broken inside, than without you and feeling nothing inside like I was before. You made me a better person. You teached me to accept myself and others. You make me feel alive. I honor our friendship even if it hurts. I try to be the best I can. For you. You deserve it. I still love you
It's the middle of winter right now and this soundtrack gives me the feeling of being back in high school on summer break playing Xbox at 10pm with the window open with a slight breeze blowing in.
Can I just find somebody irl that listens to this music as well and I can just spend the rest of my life hanging out with them, I don’t need to date then, just somebody that I can hangout with and share my feelings and thoughts with and who will understand because they are on the same wavelength. Sigh life has been getting me somewhere and I am not quite sure where, I hope it’s a good place, a place where I find my true self and never have to feel lonely and everything will be better than ever.
i showed this music to my friends when we were smoking weed, they knew about mainstream emo rock but they haven't heard of midwest emo. but they say it sounds good i figured not many people out there knows about this genre, since its a niche in an already alternative genre. so maybe show some of ur friends and see if they like it? anyways love u man🖤
I haven't had a song hit me as hard as "uuu" by Field Medic had for a long, long time... Actually brought tears to my eyes unexpectedly. Cheers, from Cincy, fellas.
this mix made me realise summer is back... bc of lockdown im still thinking it's late winter / pre spring and summer is still far away. whew 2020 n the warped perspective of time also i love the choice of songs, a lot of these are new to me, and the gus sample threw me off haha 100/10 im gonna comeback to this one, thank you!!!
Honestly dude love this so much, love the vibe, all the songs are great, absolutely love the title, and of course the picture is just perfect, has a great fall and melancholy vibe
I've come back to this vid time and time again and its a real shame that the Marietta songs had to get cut. Anyone who isn't familiar needs to check them out!! Even without them, this mix is still great :]
I will legit give someone a million high-fives if you can make a loop of that coate song ‘the one with the trumpet’ with Jim and Pam over it. I want to listen on repeat but you can’t. Pls help me :((
19:33 I was dissociating as usual and I heard this clip and it literally sounded like me, like exactly my problems with relationships but I have no idea where the clip is from
i'm tired of being sad and growing up in the south... wish i could be sad in the midwest where summer is cool and damp and the roads are flat and cracked
@@yodacat5935 I spent a summer in the south once when I was 15. I got to spend a lot of time to myself to think and the warm air was really nice. I'd love to go back one day.
I'm 16, as well, but I'm Brazilian, I'm also tired, specially because of the quarantine cuz I started thinking more about my life and future, sometimes it feels like I'm stuck
A once flourishing part of the nation on a sometimes steady, sometimes rapid economic decline since the 90s (when emo first became a midwestern thing). My parents divorce was caused by the factories closing down in our smallish town. Stats show people are less likely to move states for jobs, people just feel locked and with absolutely no future.
Is there a reason you cut out a couple of the tracks that used to be on this video? I also saw you got rid of your Halloween mix. Damn shame, I liked that one.

"Michael cera palin" is the most late 2000s band name I've ever heard
What can I say, I guess we just love Michael Cera.
