Thanks for the fantastic explanation changing a loop light. I tried to do it before got in a mess and had to call an electrician. This time I carefully followed these instructions and changed the light without to much of a problem. Thanks again.
I’ve seen lots of videos on how to take off a ceiling rose and put in new downlight, however, your tutorial is far the best in understanding what wire goes to what wire, new flex or grey brown with SL. 👍
Thank you. It shows how easy it is to change a modern light fitting, when using connector blocks.
This guy is excellent in explaining this I used wago 22 connectors makes it tidy wires clip in. 👍👍
After hours of misery and shouting I found this info and the job was done and dusted in ten minutes, thank you for making it so that even an old git like me could understand.
Excellent video, told me exactly wat I needed to know and how to do it. Liked the way you demonstrated on the dummy ceiling first so it was the right way up and easier to film, then followed with the real installation.
After half day course (turns out to be Canadian) and loads and loads of video and reading materials for days on end, I find you. Simply fantastic. Muchos gracias (or muchas - my Spanish as basic as my wago skills, lol)
Brilliantly explained from start to finish. Very helpful, thanks.
This was utter perfection
Ive ordered a new light fitting and some 222 wago connectors.
Thank you
About time to see a video that actually explain it in a way ,you can understand Very useful
Really informative video. Thanks for taking the time to explain the wiring system and the best method to terminate groups of wires with the WAGOs!
Wao your English accent is alot better now. Nice crystal clear vidro. Keep up the good work.
Thank you, this was incredibly helpful! Much appreciated.
Excellent. Exactly as an instructional video should be. Many thanks!
This makes it look so simple, great job definitely going to order some waggo connectors. 👍👍👍
Hi ... Just want to say a big big thankyou watched a number of Videos on how to fit a new chrome bedroom lamp instead of a ceiling rose you explained brilliant and the waco connectors make things so much easier ... Thankyou again quite chuffed :-)
Legend - nice to find out I haven't been doing it the wrong way... for a change!
is definitely those wago connector is the solution for any electrical projects a round the house enjoyed the video.
Thanks mate, you're great 👍
Totally awesome video, you make it so easy to understand.
Great video on how to use the wago 222 connectors to change your light fitting and a good description of the loop system. There's no reason why most people can change their own fittings just make sure you know how to isolate the circuit before working on it. Thanks for the video.
Finally!after 4th videos, I did understand thanks to you! ;) waiting for connectors to do light tomorrow :)
Thank you for this video! It was so helpful and entertaining too!
that was one life lesson! thanks for this :)
Great video, wish this had come up earlier! Wago is the way to go.
Super helpful, just what I was after. And thanks for the recommendation onthe Wago connectors, too - they're very handy, and much easier than trying to screw in multiple wires into one connection, like I was trying to do previously! 👍👍
Soon as I seen those connectors I had to order them ready to fit my celling lights too!
Great video, thank you so much a lot of knowledge. Helped me save money on electrician.👍 God bless 🙏
Mate thanks a lot. I was bricking myself thinking how i was gonna get the new light working. My mistake i didnt take the photo before undoing it. Your video has explained it all. I gotta isolate the permanent live and put that with the other live and the switch live with 2 container wago to go along with the switch live from the new bulb.
14:23 is my fave! Great video as always mate
Great video, have replaced pendant lights before without the Wago connectors and this looks a much easier way of doing it. Have just ordered some of the 222 412 413 & 415 connectors to fit two new lights, thanks for the informative video and inspiration, I’ve just subscribed.
I tried the wago 221's, terrible, I returned them and used wago 222's. Night and day. The 221's didn't grip properly, if at all. The 222's grip was great.
thanks mate great explanation. the best video on yt in this matter
Amazing nicely done will help me do my ceiling light 👍
Fantastic, thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Brilliant and exactly what I needed. Thank you ... subscribed

great video
Excellent bro
Thank you. Very clear explanation!
Thank you for a very useful video! I've been renovating an old house and this has greatly simplified upgrading the light fittings. And as for the designer of those Wago 222s... what a legend!
Very big thanks
Excellent
Brilliant.
Great video. Very easy to follow and understand.
What do you do, if the new chandelier has live and neutral only. There is no earth. Would you only use nutral and live wiring?
From my research, the ceiling chandelier won’t have any earth only if it’s plastic like a simple ceiling rose. If it’s metal it should have definitely have earth. Experts … feel free to add to this.
This video is excellent and has helped me a great deal. Thanks so much for uploading!!
Only question: 5:39 you remove all the sleeves from the earth cables. Why!? You only put them all back on at 7:39
great video, i learned alot. Is'nt that an arctex/abestos ceiling tho??
Njse I like!
U can aldo use block connectors but waggo connectors makes the life much easier😅
Such a great video!I have less wired tho, only two brown, two blue and that's it meaning one blue and one brown goes to the bulb.. I am confused. I need a professional to come and fit the chandelier :/
On the top of it your brown loop one -i dont have even one cable there in the middle. Slot is empty but I have two brown wires on the switch.
I thought wagos had to be housed inside a junction box in a metal light? You did this in the example but not when you swapped the light?
Will this work if I have two light switches to the same light
Whats the diffence between using the flexi cable and twin an earth please?
00:52 Hahaha! Brilliant :)
couldnt you of also just stuck the lives in a 3 terminal waygo fitting and put Neutrals and cpc and switch live straight into the fitting. Just would of made it a lot tighter than your way but saves going to get flex cable and some waygo fitting if you don’t have them.
Any idea if you have 4 kabels
Awesome vid how much would I expect to pay for this job thanks
about £100plus vat
Hello guys. I'm trying to replace my fitting light and I stuck with the connectors. I have bought 4 different ones but they are all too big and the wires doesn't stay inside. Any advices ??
Why does my house light wiring only have one earthing wire?
Can those wagoboxes be left under loft insulation, i was told that they must be mounted to a joist above the insulation level, or was it all a lie :)
Great video and I've subscribed. I was with you the whole way (well kinda ;-) - until you brought out the flex cable. What's that? Was that part of the old light or do you buy a flax cable every time you change a light fitting like this? Cheers :-)
Flax is a rubbish conductor!
Why did he change the white cable for a grey one before putting the terminals into the box? Then after it shows him fitting the light but the connector terminals are not in a box and the cable is back to the white one. I'm confused.
Like like 👍
Do you use the flex cable from the old pendant or replace with new ones
The old pendant was only blue and brown cable, if its a metal fitting you need 3 core with an earth.
Need someone to make it a bit easier for me. I took my old light out, there is 7 (i think) wires. My new light only has 2. I put tape over all them except a live and natural i put in the new light. Not working? Old wires need connected to each other?
Great instructional video! Just wanted to ask, how do you check where the supply cable is in the ceiling when drilling to install the bracket.
I would say that the supply cables are usually quite loose in the ceiling void and you can usual see or feel them with your fingers. However, when you drill as long as you're careful and only go through the plaster board you would never drill through a cable. Even if you touched a cable with the drill bit it would most likely push out of the way and wouldn't damage it. The insulation is pretty robust but obviously be careful.
I bought a stud finder that has cable finding capabilities aswell!
If there is no sleeving on wore how do you no which one is the switch live
Please will someone help me with my issue? I changed the socket, lost track of the live switch wire when the sheath fell off it, found it with an altimeter, wired it all in and it worked. ...but the kitchen lights and the outside light now flicker. I assume they are in series, and I must have done something wrong, but what? I hope someone is nearby to help as I simply cannot afford to get a sparky in, because I failed. :(
does it matter which blue wire goes on which slot? or which brown wire goes on which slot? or is it enough if they are just together?
i have ceiling roses now, but the new lights i got sit flush with the ceiling, so i guess i have to remove the roses and hide the excess cables inside and only have 2/3 cables that the light needs come out... it's intimidating
It doesn’t matter which slot on the wago connectors as long as they are together. Just make sure the switched live is separate like this video shows.
@@vrglcom thanks! i already did the job, but i used basic strip connectors because i couldnt get wagos anywhere locally. even if i wouldnt have been able to use wagos as they are too big. the new light i have doesnt work with a ceiling rose, it sits flush on the ceiling with the wires going directly into the unit. i had to jam the strip connectors back in the whole in the ceiling and only feed the 2 wires necessary into the light. sketchy job, but it works fine, haha...
💙💙
Where was this light from??
B&q mate
U can alao use wago lever wire connectors the easiest way
And to connect the wires use this method all neutral wires marked as blue are all connected together, earth wire marked as green with yellow all connected together, all three brown wires connected together from loop terminal and the other two brown one which goes to the switch the one which goes to the switch is marked as blue and brown or red and blue will be connected with the live pendant wire
Good video, "BUT" you forgot to say "First Disconnect The Supply & check the wires are not live before touching" .!!!
i think its natural selection if people are doing anything electricity based without doing that.
I think this is good thing to do. Also people to check with a voltage detector aswell. Safety is of the essence.
My light has black, blue brown and red cables along with earth
Hi. Are you an 18th Edition electrician?
Yes he is. Better than most Electricians I have come across.
It’s it against the law in the uk for a diyer (non electrician) to change a ceiling pendant for a decorative light fitting? Or can anyone who is compentant fit one 🤔
It isnt against the law. You would just need a certificate because if you had a fire due to that, your insurance wont pay out if you bodged it yourself!
That is NOT a Ceiling Rose.
