That reel is the total unit mate! I was mesmerized, so sick! Love the sound of the drag too. Could not have been a nicer fish for the first catch either. I'm sure you're stoked.
You could, but that's depending on what structure is around. Normally, the bridges are what hold the sheepshead. I would fish something slightly heavier. At least a 2500, but if I wanted to be certain a 4000 woth 15-20lb braid on a medium power rod. Would still be fun and you wouldn't lose them to structure. In open water, 1000 all day and let it scream lol
Short answer, sport. It's more challenging and takes more skill to land bigger fish on ultralight. I enjoy that rather than just cranking them in. Especially in regards to trout where I fish, the 1000 keeps it interesting. And one of the biggest factors for the 1000, it's feather light, so it's comfortable to fish with for long hours. Capacity is a non issue for where I'm fishing it is another reason.
@@ScottMikles Thanks! That makes sense to me. I’m looking to buy a Stella FK for pan fish, trout, bluegills and bass. (I mostly fish from banks and docks.) Most are suggesting I go with a 2500 or 3000 for flexibility and value.
@@roberthodge6711 No problem. Whenever I'm suggesting a solid overall size that will do everything inshore well and keep it fun I point towards a 2500. If you have a collection going, then you can get more niche. So if it's going to be one of your only combos, 2500 is a good move.
@@ScottMikles Thanks again! I’m a new angler, so I’m a bit torn between going the specialized route or generalized route. If I decide to specialize later (which is likely), then I’m afraid I’d never use the 2500 again. Certainly, most of the time, I’ll be angling for pan fish, trout and small bass. Decisions, decisions.
@@ScottMikles I wouldn't use that reel on such heavy rods. That size is interned for rods with lure wight up to 8, max 10 grams. For panfihs, smaller trout in still water and streams. That sort of fishing is a bit much for that baby. May not hold up very well with time. I'd suggest going for bigger model or taking a lighter rod.
@@i.o.3563 I couldn't agree more with everything you said. Even I stopped using 1000 size for UL fishing. Now I prefer 2500 size, better drag, better casting distance, less stressful for the reel. He will ruin this baby pretty fast....
I've thrown some 8 lb braid before. I liked it for the most part other than it's so thin in diameter it got knots just a little easier than 10lb. And I like having just a little extra strength for big redfish runs. I may try 8 again next time I respool.
@@ScottMikles on a stella should be a different story with windknots. Thinking of getting the Fk but idk if I want to replace the 3k Fi with it or get the 1k like you

what a beast of a reel, full magnesium body and rotor, the drag sounds like a sports car!
Stella.excatly..amazing reel..power and extrem..
Amazing fish, that's for sure!
Beautiful stainless reel

Yeah bro, she sings a nice song👌Big time stoked, definitely a solid one to add to the arsenal.
Did you put any backing before you spooled the braided line on? Or just straight braided line?
No just straight on with 10lb braid.
@@ScottMikles coo! Thx
this is perfect for my UL style of fishing.
Sweet setup- are you running it still? I have a Vanford 1000k & Ultegra 1000k.
Thanks. Absolutely, still running it. It's my designated bay, ultralight setup. Nice, 1000 series reels are awesome.
Funny how you cut the video to loosen the drag so he can run then you tighten it back up lol. Good way to make the video more interesting
Best dari prodak stella 2022 the best missieng n Eligen bro 👍😁😀😃
im assuming this has a 1000 rotor ? you cant put a 2000 spool on this...
1000-FK all around. No mix and match on this one.
Can you fish sheepshead with that combo

It's pretty but can you reel it under salt water? Like a Van Staal, zeebass or visser??
Hi Scott, got back from the gym eh,, wow. Lol
Name of the braid line?
Nomad Design Panderra 10lb braid
Why did you go with the 1000 vs the 3000?

What is the rod you used in this video
That is a Shimano Teramar XX. The 7 ft ML version. And it is an absolutely phenomenal rod. I have two now.
@@ScottMikles thanks Sir!
@@lesterplata4462 Anytime, good luck out there.
How big was that Redfish?
That one was 30".
What is the line rating for the rod?
The braid rating is 10-30 lb.

I don’t understand why people still go with Stella when Exist is way more better with just a bit more $
personally as a daiwa fanboy who uses certates and everythung high end, the stella fk is more beautiful then the exist and smoother.

@thatonebeone the whole 2022 series is the fk model. The sspg is just the jdm version with shallow spool and lower gear.
no inshore reel in size 1k is worth that price 😂
