Actually, there used to be a lot of this in congress years ago. People from both sides would OFTEN be friends outside of work. Members from left
and right would go to bbq's and birthday parties, even graduations and confirmations of each others kids!! It's harder to tear people apart at work when they show up at the hospital when your kid is sick. Congress is INTENTIONALLY designed to be contentious so that both sides are represented but no side is overbearing, but also everybody gets something they want, at least when congress was like that, things got done for the people. And there was no such thing as half of congress working for just one man!!!
