Stewy was never trying to be the CEO. Stewy can’t be written out of Logan’s will. If a business colleague doesn’t like you, it’s not the same as your dad not liking you. Logan doesn’t have the same leverage over Stewy that he does his own kids.
Stewie DOES TRY to be Kendall's friend. He tells him again and again, "Dude, just be a rich kid. Stop trying to be a big businessman and just go be a rich guy."
But, Kendall can't hear him, and when Kendall gets screwed, he's going to blame Stewie.
Well Kendall is richer than ever at the end. Mission accomplished!
Stewie is genuinely upset because Kendall is still a Spoiled Daddy's rich boy. He tried to help Kendall to break his cycle of abuse from Logan. Him and Naomi see that Kendall is totally broken in Season 2 and they know, Logan was the one who control Kendall.
Never has an episode gone by when I didn’t say I wish there was more Stewey.
The best of it all is that he’s honest as hell.

why i love Stewy, he's the only person who doesn't romanticize, distract or lie to themselves about their world. He gets it's just turning $1.00 into a $1.10.
Honestly I always thought about Stewie as just some finance douchebag but this is so true. He will tell you straight to your face “do not have faith in me, do not trust me, I am out here for me and me alone but I will help you if you help me” and that’s more truth than basically anyone else in this fucking show

My head canon is that Stewy is a very well-adjusted and kind person in his personal life but he can just turn on this mode when he needs to deal with the Roys. I'm not sure why I feel this way, he's just extremely charismatic.

Man, that is the exact line I thought of when I first saw Stewy.
He's a great character because he knows the family inside and out but can still be objective. He's one of the few sympathetic people on the show because he's an outsider and can stand in for us and can say "WTF are these people doing."
I think the characterization of him as sympathetic is a bit of a stretch.

He seems to be the only person who has solid economic and financial training. Ken’s all abt the surface and Logan is abt his gut.

Stevie and Caroline's interaction is so minor, but significant at the same time. They're two of the only characters in the series who say exactly what's on their mind without bullshitting, lying to themselves or acting nice to save face (Caroline kind of breaks this mold later but she's still one of the more honest characters generally speaking). He says probably the rudest thing you could possibly say to the mother of the bride at a wedding (calling Shiv a slut) and she immediately likes him for it because it's the truth and he actually had the balls to say it.

favorite moment might be the confused looked he makes at "not good if they're smiling". Even the true disciple of capitalism that stewy is, is taken aback by Wasytars pathological need to be cruel.
There are two cold capitalist reasons to chisel someone out of the TV stations. The first is just rent-seeking (You could have gotten a better price and are just leaving money on the table by not offering a lower price), but the other is adverse selection.
Think of buying a used car. If you buy a used car from someone on Craigslist and the the seller smiles when you agree to a deal, what does that tell you? It for sure tells you that you offered more than the minimum he would have accepted. It also tells you that he might know something about the car that you don't that, had you known, you would not have paid the agreed-upon price. So why is the owner of the TV stations so happy to sell his TV stations? What does he know that he's not revealing?

He’s the most secured and level headed character. He genuine wanted Kendall to succeed and work together but has been burnt. Love him.
It's his fault that the original deal fell through. He knows Kendalls issues with coke and he ploughed him full of cocaine at his most vulnerable moment which lead to Kendall crashing the car and falling back into Logans hands killing the takeover.

Another great scene was at the Summit and the stand up comedian comes up and starts bringing up the cruise allegations and Logan walks up and passes Stewy and says "it's funny because it's true" to Logan and all Logan can say is his infamous two liner phrase.
