I picked up one for 50 bucks, didn't run,no fire ,cleaned the pick up on flywheel and it fired right up , changed prob size and pitch .put it on my little 10'skiff which I use to get to and from my live aboard, perfect setup, quick enough, simple, and worse case you can find the motor everywhere. I may eventually swap out for a little bit bigger engine but for now it's good.
Yea I got one too someone gave me it's pretty slow 10 mph guessing might be ok for 12 foot boat but my 14' it's pretty slow the tow boats going up the river seem to out run it lol and it's hard to get parts too unlike a regular outboared
I am hoping to find one of these for my Alumacraft 1436-LT. Currently using a 7.5-hp Gamefisher (Eska) but now that parts are getting difficult to find for them (and I have three) I am looking to move on to something a little cheaper to maintain even if it doesn't make the same power. I also have an Eska 5-hp and if the Briggs and Stratton 5-hp will match the speed of that, I will be happy enough... Either gonna trade my three 7.5-hp outboards for one of these or trade my 1985 Johnson 115 for one as the 115 needs some work.
There might be something wrong ? Whats the total weight u had ? I plan on buying one and I seen almost all the videos on this engine and looks like a 5hp performer. Please advise .
Man your motor has some problems if you are only going 5 miles an hour. I have one and it pushes me up river with generation at 14 mph with about 400 lbs in the boat. You got a lemon.
