Do you really love and adore Madonna? I have for over 2 1/2 decades now, I am not delusional about M's vocal abilities, she isn't nor did she claim to be Barbra Streisand. BUT, I feel that this performance is her best LIVE performance EVER! We all have the right to our own opinion, but, for someone who adores her to say she slaughtered this? I'd say have you heard it on something other than You Tube,the quality of the audio and video is terrible. We're seeing her in Philly CAN'T WAIT!
brooke is just an ordinary person. every human makes mistakes and we learn from our mistakes. brooke just did an amazing job and from that bravery brooke made it to the top. im so proud of you brooke... for keeping your chin up to the whole world.

Only Madonna can perform this song. She's the one it was written for. It's designed for Madonna's voice. This girl just doesn't have the same emotional attachment to it. Madonna sang this in the movie AND at live at the Oscars. It will always be Madonna's song.
American Idol is not just a competition, it's like a school! they are teaching these contestants to be a PROFESSIONAL SINGER! and if Brooke will do that every single time (which she had done twice), she should have a 2nd thought if she really wants to perform ON STAGE! pls Brooke don't make it habitual! I still think she rocks! but she has to find way to pull something up! especially now, that Carly is gone? this "BASHING_HER" won't stop, yet!
Tell me America, why is Brooke still there? She's now had to stop in the beginning of her song TWICE now. As a musician, I don't know why she hasn't left yet. She has the looks and the fake tears, and that's whats been keeping her in. Like Randy said during elimination night, it's turning into a popularity contest. I love Brooke! I think she's one of the most beautiful people ever on the show, and I think she has the best all-around talent. Maybe she doesn't have a huge belting voice, but she has something much better than that, which is really interpreting the song and making you believe in it.

If you agree that it is not a power song then power is not the issue here. As for passion, I think a lot of people here will disagree. For me, the 1st half got a lot of passion. The 2nd half she lost the tragedy focus a little by standing up.
I think she did the right thing. As a performer, if you lose your spot sometimes it's better to start over. Her singing was ok...I think she pulled off the 'emotional' side of the song.
When she sang 'Every Breath you take', it was the year they were born (theme), not beatles night. She didn't really mess up, she just began to sing in the wrong key, she didn't forget her lyric through.
She was on-key from the very beginning. The part she stopped on, she seemed to have forgotten a lyric and that section is very low, I'd have wanted to start over as well. She sounded great throughout though

The pressure of performing week after week can be taxing. Thus that's what this show is about, who can take it and ride it better than anyone else. For that I think there were better performers than her on this show
I am happy she was safe. She is a good singer. She probably was so nervous to be great. The great thing about her is that she shows her feelings when she sings like David Archuleta.
I think she did it quite well. People keep remembering the forgotten lyrics, but this is really a very difficult song; she was very courageous in coming back strong the way she did; I like her a lot and think she will go on in something related to music.

As much as I like Brooke (& I think she's a great person!), this in not a "nice" contest! She clearly showed that she can't handle the pressure! YOU NEVER STOP A LIVE PERFORMANCE! That alone should have gotten her the boot! A true contender got the boot! That's what's not fair!!! Sorry Brooke, you have to go!
With such segmentation, the difference of votes can rest on thin margins so erratic swings are very frequent this year except for david.a with a huge young girl base.

A clearly moving but controversial performance (due to her start-stop). I liked the bonding/banter with Andrew Lloyd Webber (very instructive). It's good to be reminded (as a viewer) that the "feeling" of the song is just as important as the "voice." Knowing the backstory, Brooke's beginning is somewhat fitting (because the character is dying/emotional) and theatrical. Paula's feedback was beneficial/on-target. Madonna made this a power-house; Brooke made this touching. Overall, a good job!
