My Girlfriend asked me: What makes you sad. Me: You don’t wanna know because you won’t understand And then I told her “Play Gears of War 2 and then you’ll understand”. She and I played through the entire game and once we finally made it to the scene she bursted into tears and I did as well it was an emotional moment for us two.
Anyone saying "Shooters are for idiots" or stuff like that, i would like to show the Dom and Maria Scene from Gears 2. So sad, deep, and touching. Great, just great. Thanks for sharing!

That's Hans Zimmer. The guy that did the Gears of War soundtrack is Steve Jablonsky, Zimmer's Student.
This track is magnificent. It begins beautifully as Dom finds Maria then a horrible shift as he sees through his illusion and finally it turns into a form of heroic suffering as he realise what must be done. Dom knows it's too late to save Maria, he doesn't want to believe it but he knows what must be done. He confides his fears to his brother who acknowledges with: it's okay... The scene is acted out really well and would hold without the score, but the music amplifies the internal struggle and mood, making it so much more impactful. I love when stories manages to portray feelings in a relatable way and this moment in particular manages that very well, the agony of letting go. What a great game and awesome story gears of war is. Thank you.

This was a very sad moment it freaked me out a bit as a kid when Maria became all weird looking but Dom having to pull the trigger on his loved one made his death in gears of war 3 even sadder 😔❤️
