Lovely dress, hope the sun eventually shines so that you can wear it . I just can’t be doing with invisible zips ( avoid them like the plague ) but yours looks great, so well done 👍
Do you listen to the "Love to Sew" podcast? That's Helen and her sewing friend Carolyn who owns Black Bird Fabrics. Maybe everyone knows this, but maybe there is someone who doesn't know. They are super fun to listen to. I agree, Helen has some of the best instructions out there. I recommend her patterns (and the podcast!) to new sewists. Thanks for the video!
I think your dress looks fantastic - I've seen Ruan's and hers is fantastic as well. Lovely use of a great fabric. On the fitting issues - I've seen a couple of vlogs where they've just basted in the zip so it could be fitted - that's what I would have to do as I live alone and don't have anyone to help - so maybe you could try that if you have a similar problem in the future? Anyway - well done 👍
I think though if I make it again I will do it in time for my socials that way the ladies at the group can pin me in, but it’s you have definitely given me something to think about x
Forgot to add that I find your honesty with sewing skills is so refreshing. The game changer for me with invisible zips was the use of the fabric glue pen. Refills are not cheap but they do last and can be used to hold labels in place as well as pockets etc. 😊. Lynne
I use a glue pen too - it also is great when matching stripes in a jersey fabric, to hold the fabric in place when going through the overlocker. 😀 the game changer for me on invisible zips is quilters or wondertape. The zip just does not move! ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you… might have a look at this although I assume it will have done what the wonder tape does? Being honest is so important - there are so many other sewists in the same boat xx
I tack invisible zips before sewing. I have Bernina sewing machines but I love their more economical Bernette fur invisible zips. There is a tiny nob on the front of the invisible zip foot which pushes the cold out of the way and gets very close to the teeth.
Nicely done. The fit looks great. As for the invisible zip it is probably fine depending on the fabric you still need ease to pull up the zip. The colours really suit you.
Hi Bec, I like your make. I’ve always been a red and pink girl. In high school my bedroom was painted pink with red carpet. It was the 70s so you know it was shag carpet! 😍 By the way, I think you look exceptionally radiant today 😊
Those colors and that style dress look fabulous on you! I've only made Helen's Closet's free tote, as one of my first sewing projects, last year, and I'm going to be making their Sam apron for my partner, and maybe one for me, but there are several things I have my eye on for later. As a newbie sewist, after making and reading the free patterns, their patterns feel so approachable, and it's so nice to hear that there's lots of hand holding in the garment patterns. Now, I must go watch Ruan's video to see what she's done. Challenges like this are always so fun and interesting.
Wow the Lockhart looks amazing and you have definitely nailed the fit. I purchased the pattern as soon as it was released but I’ve not yet made it , to be fair the British weather is putting me off , however after seeing your make I may push myself to get it made just in case we get a sunny day . Xx
Gorgeous make. Love it❤. That pattern is now on my list. It looks fabulous on you. I am procrastinating about the pink/red fabric- I love it and know the colours are me but worry that my lifestyle is too dull to make the most of it!!! (I am retired but still so in love with fashion). Happy Sewing 😊. Lynne
Gorgeous dress. I think I'd be tempted to move the straps inwards a bit on the back though as you can see all your bra straps. Other than that it's amazing.😊
Lovely colours on you - looks a fab dress for the Summer😎❤
Thank you 😊 x
Thats a lovely dress yes to a sew along please !!

Fabulous, just fabulous, it suits you so well, love it. xxx

Lovely and a nice fit too.
It’s absolutely gorgeous on you! Well done on that zip 🎉. Thank you for collabing with me #fringetwin ❤
❤️❤️❤️ thank you 😊 xx
Beautiful! Game changer on invisible zips for me was ironing the zipper first and then an invisible zipper foot!
The ironing I agree with, I struggle to get on with my invisible zipper foot x
Love your dress, I’ve bought this pattern for my daughter
She will feel a million dollars in it 😊
So beautiful! The fabric is a perfect choice for this pattern. You look great! Happy sewing.
Thank you 😊
Lovely dress, hope the sun eventually shines so that you can wear it .
I just can’t be doing with invisible zips ( avoid them like the plague ) but yours looks great, so well done 👍
It’s not perfect but I know I just need to keep practicing xx

@@whatbecsews personally I find it better than wondertape- and much easier to apply. 🥰

Your dress is amazing and that fabric. Helens Closet have the Reynolds which is similar and without the zip 😁 That's a lovely sew too 😊
I had never fancied that pattern before but now I really want to give it a try 😊
Fabulous dress Becki! Absolutely lovely on you x😍😍

Awwww thank you, I was filming before I went out… the radiance is probably freshly applied make up 😂
Beautiful dress Becs and the fabric really suits you, I feel your pain with invisible zips but yours looked great ❤❤
Thanks x
