In 2013, I was travelling by Trans Mongolian Express from St. Petersburg to Beijing via Mongolia. It happened in the middle of Siberia, between Ekaterinburg and Irkutsk. Train has stopped for half an hour on a small, desolate station in the middle of Siberian wilderness. I got down to stretch and a little walk. I saw a big, tall Russian who looked like a wrestler, in hoodie, intently watching me. I became concerned thinking he might be Mafiosi. Concerned, I thought best to get into my compartment. So I slowly started walking to board. I noticed that big, giant of a man walking towards me. He eventually caught up and asked Indiski ? I replied Da (Yes). Next he said Raj Kapoor ! For a few second I did not know who this Raj Kapoor is in the middle of Siberia. Next he sang "Awaara Hun". I then realised I am meeting a Raj Kapoor fan. I looked up to sky, thanked Raj Kapoor in heaven. Now relaxed I said to him "Indiski - Ruski Bratia" (Indian - Russian are brother). He laughed, shook hand and we parted. Same happened in Lake Baikal when another Russian mention Raj Kapoor.
    Long live Raj Kapoor.

What a wonderful & a valuable info!!! You dig out such accurate facts and figures of the Bollywood movies, and narrate them in your clear & damdaar voice, a delicious treat for us!!! And here I was thinking that only Rajkapoor movies were a hit in the USSR, but today's unique video enlightened me ... We are a peace loving country we sincerely hope that this ongoing tension between Russia and Ukraine soon ends in peace and long-lasting friendship between them. Thanks a huge bunch for this wonderful video... 🙂

Great research in making this video !!
It was interesting to learn about the movies that made it big in erstwhile USSR. Surprised to learn that the movie at the first position was Disco Dancer, which grossed 5.5 crores in the year 1984.
Our Indian films have a special place in the hearts of the people of Russia and CIS countries. It was our first international market.

I , being from AP, watched Awara in the city of Pleven for the first time in 1984. Later on other Indian films stated to be shown. Mayuri, a Telugu film was a massive hit. I must mention that there are Russian, Tajikistani, Ukrainian, Serbian and Bulgarian versions of our great Raj Kapoor 's Awara Hoon. Just a few weeks ago, I was a guest at my friend's daughter's wedding in Bulgaria. They played there songs .....

Привет и спасибо -> Privyet y Spasiba -> Hello & Thanks ! to Mr. Rahoul for introducing this urged Soviet films topics with fraternal collaboration with India on today's antagonism of two Slovak countries Russia & Ukraine . After-math , the end of lethal second world war & prelude of the tensed phase of bi-polar cold war politics when whole world had to be forcefully divided & occupied under either the confinement of capitalist America or socialist Russia , that time our newly liberated India stands for Non Alignment Policy to save all the third world countries from its imminent threat of an another devastative world war .
And , in that milieu of warfare out-break ambiance India had played an emminent role to be the cultural ambassador for appeasement to spared out its unique assets of Hindi & other vernacular movies all over the world especially within the soviet bloc under the leadership of our ex-premiers Nehru , Shashri-ji & Indira-ji . That time the Eurotian countries could come more closer togather for one another . Ours the film fraternity then contributed a lots .
Now , in today we have to preach & reach again with that soothing message of peace & prosperity to those neighbour countries with our golden era movie tone , so that those belligerent countries may abandon their enmity or short-comes & embraced once more themselves with the faith of unison , unity & universality . до свидания = Da svidaniya = Good bye ...

which is shared by the Russians too👏👏👏
Dharmendar ji Soviet Union mein bhi itne popular the ye ab pata chala..main to sochti thi..sirf Raj Kapoor Saab ko hi saare Russians pehechante hai..his song*Mera joota hai japani*
    took Soviet Union by storm.
Barood was such a big hit there ..jaanker bahut khushi hui..( Raj saab ka crazy fan following tha hi..beta bhi piche nhi raha).☺☺☺
I remember Shoma Anand ji was the heroine of this film Barood opp.Rishi ji and I presume this was the only film in which she was the lead actress..or else she mostly does character roles...I may be wrong.wonderful actress no doubt.
Mera Naam Joker was and still is one of my favourite movies.bachpan ki baat hai..
Agle din mera paper tha..aur main chup chupker Doordarshan mein ye film dekh rahi thi..iske liye pitaai bhi khai😅😅😅😅
I loved the songs of this film written by Sailendra ji .but one song which is my most favourite *Jane kaha gaye wo din*was written by Hasrat Jaipuri Sahab...what compositions we were gifted from the great blessed.. artists..composers..lyricists..music directors..
Wo sab mujhe larger than life lagte hai..

Rahool ji, mujhe aapke video, aapki indian filmen aor indian kalakaaron ke baare mai kahaniyan bahot pasand hain.
Jab Aavara film aayi thi, mere papa javan the, baad mai unhonne bataya tha ke log is film ko dekhne ke liye raat ke 3-4 baje sinemaghar jake lain mai khade hokar ticket khareedte the. Ek baar mai ne kaha ke mujhe zyada saatven dashak ki filmen pasand hain, to unhonne kaha ke mai indian filmon mai kuch bhi nahin samajhti hoon. Papa sirf Raj sahab ko maante the, Rajesh Khanna koun hain, Amitabh Bachchan koun hain, unko kuch pata nahin tha.
Raj sahab aor unki film aane ke baad Soviet Union mai scoolon mai aor instituton mai hindi padhane lage. Uzbekistan Soviet Union ka ek hissa tha, Uzbekistan ke kayi scoolon mai aor Tashkent univercity mai bhi hindi ki padhayi shuroo huyi.
Aajkal bhi Tashkent TV par har roz 2-3 indian filmen aati rehti hain.

Why are Russians too crazy about Indian movies ❓ All the credit should be given to their writers and dubbing artists who made Indian films immortal or immemorable. Maybe this was an political agenda to keep Indians to Russia side instead of America. We should be grateful to Raj Kapoor for making Indian movies global recognition. USSR was very huge country. After world war II, fifteen countries were separated from it. Now we call it simply Russia and it stands as world's biggest country though. There is horrifying situation between Russia and Ukrain. Hope war will end soon and they watch Bollywood Movies. 🤓💙🤓💙🙉😈
