Replaced my seal today everything just the way you said I'm so glad I didn't wait any longer oil was messing with the Rubber products I put a new belt on too hell yeah
Does this make your vehicle shake/vibrate as if it were low on revs? I have the same leak and whenever I come to a stop, my vehicle shuts offs. Not sure if I have another issue on top of this one.
@@automotivetech-vet the check engine light came on but then turned off. Hasn’t turned back on since Saturday but I still have the leak and vehicle turns off when I come to a stop. I turn it back on with no issues. Anticipating another issue aside from the leak.. smh 🤦♂️
Wife has the same vehicle, 2017 Equinox with the 2.4 Ecotec. I replaced the crank seal and after firing it up and idling it for 10 minutes or so had no issues. Took it for a drive and when I got back I noticed the seal started to leak again. It only leaks at an idle, when you run the rpms up the leak completely stops and then resumes when back at an idle. Any idea what could cause it to leak at an idle?
Forgot to put silicone on bolt and crankshaft pulley. Oil runs thru the crankshaft on this engine. When doing the rear crankshaft seal you gave to put silicone on the flywheel bolts or it will still leak oil.
What is the torque spec for reinstalling the crankshaft center bolt? It might be 74ft-lb with an additional 75 degree turn using a new bolt. Anyone know what the part number is for the new bolt?
How about a 2005 equinox, 3.4 L engine, got a video on those? If so please post! We have owned this car for 6 years now and it has been a cash cow. All new suspension, upper and lower on the front, shocks and struts on the rear. New 235 R65 17 Good Year all terains Did all the work myself, so I'm not deep in I guess, but figure what I would have paid. My point is, main seal just started leaking, plus I've been having an awful vibration problem lately. Any help will be appreciated.
You can probably get away with this crank bolt tightening method, but the bolt is a torque to yield. I would at least use a new bolt. Why risk it for $15?
Bolt needs to be replaced. Gm # 11589123 Seal is gm # 12584041 Harmonic balancer # is dorman 594-309 2nd time I am going to do this job so that is why I am changing the balancer. Along with belt. Was having oil flung to my air intake box and inside wheel well.
You made it look easy! Gave me some procedures knowledge that was useful that I didn't have the first time I replaced seal first time! Thanks,
Wooow they were charging me 6 hours labor over $600 for this job. Thank you Soo much for the video. I can get it done in 2 hours . thank you.
My pleasure
Good luck with that lol.

Thank you fkn thank you I’ve replaced oil pump three serpentine belts an alternator and valve cover gaskets looking for this exact leak
My pleasure my friend
Take me 25 mnts. To change the crankshaft seal. Tanks for the video.
My pleasure my friend
Thanks for the vid. Just completed this on a 2014 Buick Verano (same engine) and your vid was perfect. 👍👍
Awesome my pleasure 🙏 ☺️
outstanding work

Sounds like you have more issues is the check engine light on and does it flash ??

Probably a bad crank pulley or seal damaged upon installation try another seal first
Did you ever figure out what the issue was?
No torque specs?
thanks for the video really apreciate it
Nise job✌️✌️
Thank you 🇺🇸
Do this cause oil to drain all over? My leak is on passenger side
Yes
Thanks

No videos sorry 😐 is it vibration at all times or just on acceleration
"Cash cow" does not mean what you think it means
Great video! Thank you very much!
Thanks dude ✌
That's what I do
This is an old video but hopefully you answer what part number is that seal
Can you please give all the sizes of the sockets you used
He did. 21 and 22mm.
Need help with ecotec and crankcase pressure issue... can you respond
What's going on
What size socket did you use to push the seal in?
Like a 38 mm
A 36 mm might work also just make sure u don't hit the inside of the seal where the tension spring is
did this solve the oil issue
Yes of course
@@automotivetech-vet thank you

I tought you cant re use that bolt again?
I always do never had any issues
@@automotivetech-vet people be saying something about yield to torque bolt. And that they are a 1 time use?
@@rhurtadorh32 torque to yeld. That is correct according to Haynes book. Look at comment left the bolt # in there
" Dont want to damage those threads cause then you will be putting a crankshaft in here." then impacts the shit out of it!?!
I hate and I mean I hate that little hole for tensioners lol. That takes me longer than anything. I just suck at lining up that thing lol
