Does this make your vehicle shake/vibrate as if it were low on revs? I have the same leak and whenever I come to a stop, my vehicle shuts offs. Not sure if I have another issue on top of this one.

Sounds like you have more issues is the check engine light on and does it flash ??

@@automotivetech-vet the check engine light came on but then turned off. Hasn’t turned back on since Saturday but I still have the leak and vehicle turns off when I come to a stop. I turn it back on with no issues. Anticipating another issue aside from the leak.. smh 🤦‍♂️

Wife has the same vehicle, 2017 Equinox with the 2.4 Ecotec. I replaced the crank seal and after firing it up and idling it for 10 minutes or so had no issues. Took it for a drive and when I got back I noticed the seal started to leak again. It only leaks at an idle, when you run the rpms up the leak completely stops and then resumes when back at an idle. Any idea what could cause it to leak at an idle?

    • @automotivetech-vet

Probably a bad crank pulley or seal damaged upon installation try another seal first

Do this cause oil to drain all over? My leak is on passenger side

Forgot to put silicone on bolt and crankshaft pulley. Oil runs thru the crankshaft on this engine. When doing the rear crankshaft seal you gave to put silicone on the flywheel bolts or it will still leak oil.

What is the torque spec for reinstalling the crankshaft center bolt? It might be 74ft-lb with an additional 75 degree turn using a new bolt. Anyone know what the part number is for the new bolt?

How about a 2005 equinox, 3.4 L engine, got a video on those? If so please post! We have owned this car for 6 years now and it has been a cash cow. All new suspension, upper and lower on the front, shocks and struts on the rear. New 235 R65 17 Good Year all terains Did all the work myself, so I'm not deep in I guess, but figure what I would have paid. My point is, main seal just started leaking, plus I've been having an awful vibration problem lately. Any help will be appreciated.

You can probably get away with this crank bolt tightening method, but the bolt is a torque to yield. I would at least use a new bolt. Why risk it for $15?

    Bolt needs to be replaced.
    Gm # 11589123
    Seal is gm # 12584041
Harmonic balancer # is dorman 594-309
2nd time I am going to do this job so that is why I am changing the balancer. Along with belt. Was having oil flung to my air intake box and inside wheel well.
