My father used to tell me how these Portugeese people tortured ur ancestors so much that many people had to run away to nearby states. You will find konkani people in Karnataka, Kerala, TN and Maharashtra. Our ancestors had to sacrifice their wealth, homes and even gods to escape. After independence from Portugeese, the newer generation rebuilt our temples and dig out our god's idols from wherever they were hidden.
Portugese inquisition was also another dark Chapter in Indian history which is not much talked about. They tortured, killed many Hindus and converted them to Christianity, destroying many temples. Shame to our history writers hiding the torture of Indians in Goa.

Very interesting video. Thanks for making this. So, we basically missed the bus by 1949 when Portugal became a NATO member and then had to wait for 10 years till taking military action was feasible. If we had done for Kashmir and Goa, the same we did for Hyderabad and Junagadh at the same time, the other two would also have been a part of India by 1947-48 itself.
It was very unfortunate that India had to wait for 14 years after independence to move troops to Goa because of Nehru for not supporting Goa's satyagrahis . Thanks to Open Letter for covering the dark side of Goa's independence in this video.😊❤.

It has become convenient for many Goan Christians to ignore the past atrocities of the Portuguese, especially wrt religious conversion, because that puts Christianity in a bad light. The proof lies in people who escaped from Goa to settle in the coastal region of Karnataka, as well as several temples demolished to be replaced by churches in the Portuguese era. You still have Goans who ran away with the god idols and set them up in the neighbouring states, those people still visit these relocated idols during festivals. The eyes of Goans twinkle only for the Portuguese passport which they can get which allows them easy job opportunities outside India!!
Not only Goans but Indians from every part of India have left India for good and more are leaving India for under Modi's rule and "Amrit Kaal" Gujaratis are paying agents money to illegally enter USA and Canada. You are very conveniently silent on this fact.
@@clarissiarodrigues4737 Fortunately, I am blessed with a good educational background so I do not need to pray for a portuguese passport like you guys. Unfortunately, most goans, especially those who lack in good educational skills just rely on this shortcut and are shamelessly proud about it. Fun fact: Though the Portuguese passport wielding goans feel pride in belonging to Portugal, they are incapable of even speaking Portuguese. All they use the Portuguese passport for is to get into the UK. Portugal is a pretty poor country in Europe, the locals in Portugal themselves try to get better paying jobs elsewhere such as in Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland. So what are you feeling proud of?

The people with surnames like Pereira, Fernandes, etc (non- Mestizo) are pure blue blooded native Goans. Hope this information enlightens you. As a Pakistani history I know that Pakistan and India got independent in 1947 British ruled us, I was very shocked to hear that France and Portugal also ruled and some states of India got independent in 1954 and 1961.😢😢😢
Bangladeshis being Muslims sustained their native language and culture, but West Punjab lost it’s Punjabi identity, and got colonized with Urdu which was never even native to Punjab.
It's actually very nice to know about Goa. Like said in the video, India in those days wasn’t exactly in a position where we could just attack easily without a significant retaliation. During the Indo - Pak war, it was thanks to the Soviet Union that we could help Bangladesh. But, in Goa's case, attacking earlier on may have lead to NATO retaliation in the form of unjust sanctions and such, which would have lead the whole nation to suffer. That would rather make the people of India hostile instead of supporting Goa if you consider the situation of our people just after Independence. As for the religious and cultural changes, those must be condemned.
"Why did Nehru let Goa Suffer? | Goa Inquisition | Open Letter" **Introduction:** The video explores the historical context and intricacies surrounding the delay in the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule and the criticisms levied against Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, particularly by Prime Minister Modi. The narrative suggests that Nehru's reluctance to use military force was driven by a desire to maintain a peaceful image on the global stage. **Body:** 1. **Portuguese Rule in Goa (1500-1961):** - The Portuguese arrived in Goa in 1500 and ruled for 400 years, surpassing the British presence in India. - The Portuguese engaged in mass conversions, temple destruction, and enforced Christianity, influencing Goan society significantly. 2. **Activism against Portuguese Rule:** - Goa witnessed anti-Portuguese movements, with the Goa Congress Committee and Azad Gomantak Dal leading Satyagraha. - Despite local agitation, national leaders focused on ending British rule and paid less attention to liberating Goa. 3. **Nehru's Diplomatic Approach:** - Nehru's government initiated negotiations with the Portuguese government to avoid military conflict. - The diplomatic efforts faced challenges, including the intransigence of the Portuguese dictator Salazar. 4. **Global and Political Considerations:** - World War II dynamics played a role, as Portugal's neutrality gained support from the USA and NATO. - India's principled stance against aggression, as reflected in the Panchsheel Accord with China, also influenced decision-making. 5. **1961 Liberation of Goa:** - UN declaration of Goa as a non-self-governing territory in 1960 and favorable relations with the USA set the stage for India's move. - On December 18, 1961, Operation Vijay was executed, leading to the swift liberation of Goa in 36 hours. **Conclusion:** The video concludes by highlighting the criticisms Nehru faced for not liberating Goa earlier and the subsequent positive changes in relations between India and Portugal after the liberation. It underscores the geopolitical complexities, diplomatic considerations, and global dynamics that shaped the decision-making process. **Nuances and Controversies:** - The reluctance of Nehru to use military force is portrayed as a strategic decision influenced by global politics, principled non-aggression, and the fear of escalation with China. - Criticisms of Nehru's decision are presented, with Defense Minister Krishna Menon accused of misleading Nehru and an apparent disconnect between national leaders and the local Goan movements. **Terminology and Case Studies:** - Operation Vijay: The military operation conducted by India to liberate Goa in 1961. - Salazar: The Portuguese dictator whose stubbornness complicated negotiations for Goa's liberation. - Panchsheel Accord: A set of principles signed between India and China, emphasizing peaceful coexistence. This comprehensive summary provides an in-depth understanding of the historical events, political decisions, and global factors that shaped the delay and eventual liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule.

| Goa Inquisition | Open Letter"
**Introduction:**
The video explores the historical context and intricacies surrounding the delay in the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule and the criticisms levied against Jawaharlal Nehru, India's first Prime Minister, particularly by Prime Minister Modi. The narrative suggests that Nehru's reluctance to use military force was driven by a desire to maintain a peaceful image on the global stage.
**Body:**
1. **Portuguese Rule in Goa (1500-1961):**
- The Portuguese arrived in Goa in 1500 and ruled for 400 years, surpassing the British presence in India.
- The Portuguese engaged in mass conversions, temple destruction, and enforced Christianity, influencing Goan society significantly.
2. **Activism against Portuguese Rule:**
- Goa witnessed anti-Portuguese movements, with the Goa Congress Committee and Azad Gomantak Dal leading Satyagraha.
- Despite local agitation, national leaders focused on ending British rule and paid less attention to liberating Goa.
3. **Nehru's Diplomatic Approach:**
- Nehru's government initiated negotiations with the Portuguese government to avoid military conflict.
- The diplomatic efforts faced challenges, including the intransigence of the Portuguese dictator Salazar.
4. **Global and Political Considerations:**
- World War II dynamics played a role, as Portugal's neutrality gained support from the USA and NATO.
- India's principled stance against aggression, as reflected in the Panchsheel Accord with China, also influenced decision-making.
5. **1961 Liberation of Goa:**
- UN declaration of Goa as a non-self-governing territory in 1960 and favorable relations with the USA set the stage for India's move.
- On December 18, 1961, Operation Vijay was executed, leading to the swift liberation of Goa in 36 hours.
**Conclusion:**
The video concludes by highlighting the criticisms Nehru faced for not liberating Goa earlier and the subsequent positive changes in relations between India and Portugal after the liberation. It underscores the geopolitical complexities, diplomatic considerations, and global dynamics that shaped the decision-making process.
**Nuances and Controversies:**
- The reluctance of Nehru to use military force is portrayed as a strategic decision influenced by global politics, principled non-aggression, and the fear of escalation with China.
- Criticisms of Nehru's decision are presented, with Defense Minister Krishna Menon accused of misleading Nehru and an apparent disconnect between national leaders and the local Goan movements.
**Terminology and Case Studies:**
- Operation Vijay: The military operation conducted by India to liberate Goa in 1961.

Most of the Goans are unaware of this History. Very Sad 😢 our ancestors face a huge atrocities and we are kept in darkness 😭😭
Thanks bro shareing our goan video all India come to know Goa story an history.
Sarke bhava!!
Really amazed to see such a great piece of history, wonderfully articulated by you. Shamefully none of this was taught in the history texts during our schooling days. Hats off to you for this marvellous vdo!
May you bring our more of such glorious chapters of Indian History, and may the present Govt make all efforts in re-writing our history, and thus giving back our glorious past at least to all of our future generations. Jai Hind. Bharat Mata ki jai.

NEHRU ne bharat ka bahut bahut nuksan kiya. Usko kitna gaali dene ka Maan hota hai lekin wo nasedi hamara PM tha.🥺🥺
Tere baap dada ko azadi se pehle Marva deta toh zaada nukasaan nahi hota. Tere jaisi aulad paida na hoti jo khud kuch nahi karti bass apne purvajo ko kosti h
This guy has missed the most important point.
Thanks to Nehru's influence, Egypt closed suez canal for Portuguese Navy who now had to go around Africa.
During that time, Indian Navy & Army took control of Goa
Emotional touched by dark side.....Brighter side, at present Goan still give up Indian Citizenship to go Portugal n still 60% Goan food part of Portuguese cuisine. Goa is tourist destination, what our rest Indian come here 2 do everybody knows....
Please elaborate what rest of the Indians come to Goa for??
IT WAS KHANGRESS who changed DOMICILE LAWS in GOA to settle KATELA for VOTE BANK.
EVERYONE KNOWS IT
@@D.B.Cooper.. low alch you get it.
Goa is a tourist destination thanks to cheap alcohol and illegal drugs. That’s not something to boast about. And the Goans migrating to Portugal just rush off to the UK, because Portugal itself is a poor country by EU standards. And not all of them are highly qualified, they just do menial jobs in the UK. It’s one thing to be proud of working abroad because of your qualifications, but there is nothing to be proud of getting to go to Portugal in this manner!!
@@MrPratikPowar Portugal is still ahead of india and way better in keeping the people happy. from a goan-portuguese.
You forgot an important detail. The Portuguese were not interested in Goa. They came because Timoja Naik asked for their help against adilshah. The Portuguese were here at the invitation of the Hindu king.
And later persecuted Hindus couldn't even trust western ideology 😅
As a Goan ,I thank you for making this video.
Christian pastor (Xavier) killed so many Hindus, just because they refused to convert to chri$tianism.😢😢😢
How do you fabricate lies, even I wanna learn from you,🙂
How dare u speak such things? Do you even know who St Francis Xavier really is? Tell me something...have u seen God? Do you know who he is?

6:45 Puducherry and other French ruled territories were peacefully handed over to India
Haa bhai, kitne decades takk hamare logon ka khoon chusa, maara aur mass conversion kiya aur baad mein jabb Bharat unke kisi kaam ka nahi raha, jitna chus sakte the chus liya uske baad peacefully return karr diya!!
Isse jyada peaceful koi ho sakta tha!!

Jo bhi bolte ho na, mere dost, toh thoda sochh karr bolo!! Agar kabhi tum kisi bade post parr gye toh tumhari baat global level parr sunni jayegi

Wow such a heroic story, Goa what a wonderful story of freedom
India did not liberate Gao they conquered it.
they did not, many historical proofs prove goa to be indian land, however if you mean the current state then indeed goa is getting destroyed with illegal stuff done by the government, the Portuguese would have handled goa much better, would have done something for the people, the indians dont enforce strict laws, so the ghattis can come and do ghand masti, you can take the mapusa market beggers as a sign of corruption and no development. the portuguese enforce laws unlike the indians which dont enforce laws as much.
@@TroyPereira1RO Before Portugal colonized Goa, there was no India as a country but many independent Indian states.
