- In this video, Christian takes us on a deep dive into our latest collaboration. Tina Guo; an artist who is rewriting the playbook for cellists and, as a consequence, is taking Hollywood by storm. Did you had any trouble for the download with the C.H. app? I cannot dowload it... It always stops and fail... 😞
@ The first attempt to download did hang during the install. I signed out and closed the Crow Hill app then signed back in. I hit the ‘install’ again and then it mounted on my desktop and began to download.

Just watched this video wearing Bose Quiet Comfort 45 noise cancelling headphones… so many layers and delicate shades you can’t hear from just watching on mobile or without a stereo system… it’s just glorious, even without the synthesized wrangling. With that mixer page on top of all the gonzo presets… I’m gobsmacked and very glad payday is tomorrow, haha! Righteous work, brother… my hat’s off to all y’all. 🎉❤

Yes, many of the techniques I used for Dune are incorporated here :)
Very cool idea miking the electric instrument acoustically! It's easy to kinda put acoustic and electric cello in two different boxes because their archetypal sounds are so different but a microphone on an electric cello and distortion on a recording of an acoustic cello are both super valid and interesting sounds.
Love both Crow Hill and Tina Guo... This is a match made in heaven!

I feel as though this will become the industry (in samples and film music generally) standard for cello work - as the original damage was for percussion.

Couple great vst outthere from Performance Samples (pacific cello, vista 2 cello) or westwood rotot very interessting and beautifull tone.
But this one could be my favourite one...

What does the box do that you keep adjusting with your left hand?
It’s probably a Faderbox, I have a similar one, a Sparrow. You can assign different things to the faders, most commonly volume, expression, timbre, vibrato, etc., using MIDI CC.

Has there been any change in the ability to use your plugins on Linux yet? The first set of plugins you released wouldn't run there (even with Windows/Linux bridges like yabridge, which made them quite unusual) ...
The download for Tina Guo Storm Cello won't work after many tries in the CH app. Am I the only one? Can you help me about this? I restarted my computer but with no luck. It still won't work. I did not find any "Support" tab on your website neither, so here I am on Messenger to try asking help. Thanks

I will be getting this library but am also finding it impossible to update String Murmurations. Support have said that they will sort the app soon. I believe this problem is for Windows users only.
Can this work with MPE input?
Is the vibrato baked in? Or can it be controlled?

Like many composers, I have used the Cinesamples Tina Guo libaries on many projects. But I think this one goes further, with the texture patches with crazy processing, and the blending of electric and acoustic sounds. This can be a workhorse for untraditional cello sound. But I wonder if you'd get the rough and raw sound, sometimes necessary for horror/suspense trailer music. The Cinesamples Tina Guo libaries were too wet for that kind of use.

What is the difference between this library and the onces she played for cinesamples and native instruments? How do they compare?
My question too! I almost bought it a couple times.. But, yeah, at this price point, perhaps they found a way to elevate it?!
No comparison with the NI library which is very basic compared with this gem!

Well, I have the Cinesamples library and it’s so basic and just ‘standard’. This one, even the most basic techniques and articulations just sound better to me. A bit speedy but I think I’m biting.

But beasts arose, their voices cursed,
Fame-fed fiends with endless thirst.
The agents, wraiths of contract ink,
The gorgons, spun of lights that blink.
The gilded kings in velvet thrones,
Fed on souls and hollow tones.
But Loxley’s hand could not be stayed,
His music burned, his fingers played.
Each note, a storm, a blade, a spark-
A symphony against the dark.

He carved a path through twisted dreams.

Now side by side, they roam the spheres,
Their music bright through endless years.
From worlds unknown to time’s embrace,
Their songs illuminate all space.
No chain may bind, no light may fade,
What love and music once have made.
For in the stars, their echoes grow-

I really love the collaboration and the GUI , however I AM NOT IMPRESSED . This probably the weakest library Crow Hill has produced . Crow Hill and CineSamples dropped the ball on Tina . It's almost as if each company is distracted by her beauty and fail to execute .
Im sticking to the Cello Libraries Im using . Just an honest review, I promise I am not a hater by any means. EVERY product from Crow Hill is top notch Level stuff , but this aint it

Storm Cello and a number of the recent libraries allow for saving (and sharing) user presets.

I believe it’s Glass Strings, Imperial Electric, Guitar Hive, Concussion and now Tina Guo - Storm Cello that have user preset saving.
