Never understood judging a gaming year on its worst games.
We don't remember 2007 as one of the best years of gaming because of the lack of bad games that came out that year. Bad games come out every year. Thousands do actually.
We should only judge them on their best games. Because that's is what is remembered in the long run.

My thoughts exactly. You really can't quantify it scientifically the way that they are trying to do, especially based just on IGN reviews...
A year with 5 10's and 20 3's beats a year with 0 10's and 20 7's if you get what I'm saying.
It's just a criteria you can go with.

In hindsight at least, 2007 is the best year ever for gaming. Bangers in Mario Galaxy, Halo 3, Modern Warfare, The Orange Box, Metroid Prime 3. The start of Witcher, Crysis, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Assassins Creed, Rock Band, and Uncharted. And that’s not even everything, it’s bonkers

The title of the third Zelda Oracle game was "Mystical Seed of Courage." The third game was canceled due to the devs being unable to incorporate the password system between three titles.

For North America is there a better year than 1991? Street Fighter 2, Mario World, Link to the Past, and Sonic are all all time classics that have withstood the test of time and still hold up today. Then there’s also Tecmo Super Bowl, Streets of Rage, Castlevania IV, Battletoads, Turtles in Time, and Wrestlefest to name just a few more all time classics.
