    From what I’ve been told… this works but mostly as a cleaner to free up the sludge… so just it a few 100 miles before a proper flush and new oil. Just putting it in and leaving it won’t solve anything .

      My NA I've done 2 oil changes on it now. I use Rotella 5w-40 in every car I have. The initial startup tick is always there and goes away, but I find now that if I go for a drive, park it, then go for another drive an hour later the tick is there and constant. Yes, using Rotella. I may try some Sea Foam or MMM. Only 50k miles on my 97.

      @HazardGarage  Год назад

      yes let me know! It was cheap and I had some success with it. Alternatively, in my BMW M3 project I was introduced to a product called BG EPR and have seen some really promising results of it emulsifying gunk and sludge. It's apparently only sold to mechanic shops (there is a process to using it so read the instructions!) but you can find it on Amazon: amzn.to/3OaRJsf

      @@HazardGarage So i used the seafoam and left my 2012 gmc acadia running while i went to the bathroom. Came back outside and the lifter tick was gone. Drove it a few miles, came back home. Noticed while sitting and running the temperature gauge was kind of high. The radiator fan has been acting up and i didnt hear it running so its probably just the fan making it overheat but i think it did work for the lifter tick.

      Its been better. If I let the car sit for like 2 weeks which is common since this is a overhaul project, the car will tick briefly but once warm will go away. I have just changed the oil though so no more seafoam in it. So we will see if it holds. If it comes back, I will test some other options and post a video so make sure to sub!

    • @HazardGarage

      It did seem to help. It would happen very shortly on cold start ups but then would go away once warm. I think if I were to try this again I want to try "BG Engine Performance Restorer (EPR)".
      Its supposed to really get rid of sludge and its officially only available to shops and dealers. Although you can find them on Amazon (amzn.to/3mi3WQQ)
      There's even videos on RUclips where someone puts sludge in a cup and shows something like STP engine cleaner didnt break up the sludge and BG basically liquified it.
      It does cost around $20 instead of seafoam for like $10.

      generally the lifter tick isnt a terminal issue. So this does improve the symptoms. most people would find rebuilding or pulling an engine for lifter tick to be excessive.
