Back to Pokémon remember when there was a "swastika" on a trading card when really it's existed for thousands of years and is regularly used in multiple religions to this day and wasn't even drawn like one? It's the Japanese not understanding the outside world and the outside world often in return not understanding Japan, nobody wants to open a debate and explain these things so it just turns into people throwing the word "racist" around.
Well that's cause this movie is actually a prelude to the terraformars anime/manga. It perfectly shows what happened, remember the main character here is actually the captain of the Bugs 3 mission, although they didn't include the foreigners from the animé's snippets they still payed homage to them. E.g the silk lady, the grasshopper dude, whose legs you actually saw in the anime being used by a terraformed roach. The bullet any guy was actually the vice captains father, unfortunately he wasn't made America/British, you get the point though. Also ichiro is presently the Japanese government's president/prime minister in the animé. So it all makes sense
@Meany Adrian And then the Cockroaches lead an invasion of Earth where most of North and South America is decimated at first by the first wave roaches, but they soon fight back and Japan has to be held responsible for their actions and so they have a whole army dedicated to fight these things.

The three strongest Chracters are actually one with Hornet DNA, one German Guy (RIP) with Electric Eel DNA and ... well, a Human. The "perfect Human", but actually it's kinda logical.
If there would be enough O2 in the Air to support Cockroaches that big, Marmals which would be able to breathe the air without dying would be probaly monsters compared to them.

Then an alien virus infects Humans called the AE Virus so Hiruma gets Komachi to set up a third expedition with the help of the UN called Annex 1 in order to go back to Mars get samples to combat this virus from the Terraformars and use it to make a vaccine for humans on Earth, 100 Crew members are sent with each of the major powers sending a crew (Japan/USA joint operations Squads 1&2, Russian Squad 3, China Squad 4, Germany/South America join ops Squad 5, Italy/Africa squad 6)

*Radiation = Mutations*

@@iplaydodgeball I've never understood this argument. I put it on the same level as the whole scandal with the Pokémon Jynx and Mr Popo from DBZ that snowballed back in the 90's. Jynx was never an attempt at blackface nor was Mr. Popo they were based off existing Youkai of legend and they only found out it was any way offensive when it blew up in America. And Japan being xenophobic (it's getting better but it's still there) is simply unaware of what many other cultures consider "racist".

This movie is way different from the anime, but they nailed the Terraformars look
