The first videos I watched over the Internet were 640x480 it was very tiny then the RUclips website opened about when 720p came out. That was a very long time ago I'm sure this camera is not that old. Ten years ago I was strapping cameras to remote cars and bikes. I like to buy cheap broken cameras and fix them before putting them through wipeouts. The Olympus cameras I like, they are easy to take apart but they are getting harder to find. I like to watch videos of techs taking cameras apart before buying I don't want something hard to work on.
David thank you for this video. I found this camera in a drawer that I forgot about. In answering the question about “how to download photos from this camera onto a MacBook Pro”, Im not very computer savvy so please explain your answer “you’ll need a memory card reader for this camera’s memory cards that plug into your Mac”. Thank you so much.
Thank you! This camera won't directly connect to a Mac computer -- it's just not part of the ecosystem. So if you want to get the photos off of it the easiest solution is to grab a memory card reader that can connect to your computer and then insert this camera's memory card there. That will allow you to transfer the files.
@@librasister1 A memory card reader is a little thing that you can plug a memory card into and then plug that into your computer. Amazon will have many to choose from. Just make sure you get one that's compatible with this camera's memory card type/
super helpful video! i’m about to recover this old camera and it doesn’t work because of the battery i guess, should i get a new battery or only a battery charger? btw what’s the difference between charging it directly with cable and charging only the battery? thank you!
The shutter button. I think there's a section near the end (there's a link in the video's description to each section) that talks about how to actually take a photo.
in the shooting menu, why can i not change the White Balance? it is automatically set on auto and i wish to change it but i can’t. i have a nikon coolpix s9600
Will the camera turn on without the SD card inserted? I recently found mine without the SD card and am trying to determine whether the battery is still functioning or if the camera won’t turn on without the SD card.
Hi, mi camera goes to sleep like the screen goes black after taking a picture however when I click the shutter button again it turns back on after a couple of seconds what do I do??
Hi hope I can get a response since I’ve been dealing with this problem for years, i have an memory card and reader but when I plug the memory card reader into my phone / iMac no pics show up on the sd card. I did try option “format card” but I also tried the “copy” option which I believe is what actually transfers the photo itself to the sd card but the option skips everytime I scroll down. Any advice ?
Do you have a Windows PC you can test the memory card with? If it works, then you know there's a Mac file incompatibility with your memory card, which is possible because cameras use FAT data storage, which is an MS-DOS-derived format. I am not a Mac user, so I don't know what compatibility issues exist between Mac file systems and FAT file systems.
The SDHC standard only goes to a certain size. Beyond that size, the cards are SDXC. IIRC, this camera is incompatible with SDXC, but it's been a while since I recorded this. Is that what the video indicated?
this video was so informative, thank you so much for the tutorial!
Thank you!
Thank you david this was the best video I just found my old camera and didnt want to break it while using it.
Thank you!
I just started using mine again after 10 years. I'm old school, and prefer using an actual camera to take pics.
Nice! Yeah, there's something great about using a real camera for that.
this is a great camera! the retro effect gives good vibes to all photos :)
It really is!

Is there a way to know how much battery the camera has left?
IIRC, it should be on the display. If it is, it's covered in this video. The index in the description might help you find the content you need.
You can access your scene mode by clicking it first and look it up under the menu button. It even has panoramic mode!
Nice!

IIRC, it can't run on direct power without a good battery, so you're likely to need a new battery.
Hi, David! I was just wondering if you could put a link for the battery & charger, or recommend some good ones?
I can. This is an affiliate link, and I this make and type of charger for most of my old digital cameras: amzn.to/3zpIoIo
Do I only need a cable to charge or do I need some other things to charge? Thank you in advance for your reply
I used a battery charger that plugged into the wall and then just popped the battery in that when needed.
What button do you click on the camera to actually take a photo
The shutter button. I think there's a section near the end (there's a link in the video's description to each section) that talks about how to actually take a photo.
really beneficioal content
i wll love to know how to get film look on nikon coolpix s220
Thank you. There isn't a way in -camera to do that. You would need to edit it on a photo editor.

I haven't used an S9600, so I'm not sure.

It will, yes. The battery is the more-likely culprit.
How will check picture and video
@@SaviourIme-gy8go the play button can do that.

does this camera need charging? if so is the mini usb the charging port?
That should be covered in the battery section of this video, and there's an index in the description that will take you there.
I forgot to put in a memory card and have pictures on the actual camera I want to upload. Do yoh know how I can do that?
IIRC, you have to connect it to the computer directly.
the flashing part was not very helpful David.
It's been a while since I made this video. Do you mean the way that the flash was described or did I actually trigger the flash on the video?
On the nikon website it says we can use sd/sdhc cards with any amount of gb
The SDHC standard only goes to a certain size. Beyond that size, the cards are SDXC. IIRC, this camera is incompatible with SDXC, but it's been a while since I recorded this. Is that what the video indicated?
how do i record videos on the camera
This camera doesn't record video.
Where are the images😮
They start about 20 seconds into the video.
Can this camera take an SDHC 16GB card?
I think I covered the SD card limitations in the videos's memory card section.
