    Funny, I bought this stock in end of 2022 for around 3.50 or so... Then throughout the year and half, I have just been lower my average, kept on lowering and lowering thinking this will be just another garbage!! I got stuck in this with a few thousands shares and when it dropped to around $1.7, I was pissed... I was down close to 10k and my average was 2.60. I wanted to lower my average when it hit 1.7, but I was afraid. I had too much on the line for a company that just may go under!!
    I'm so glad MTTR got acquired, but I also learned a lesson!! I sold 80% at $4.74, set a stop loss at 4.60 to sell 10%, stop loss at 4.50 for 5% and I only have 1k shares left at a stop loss of 4.40. If it does below that, I'm out of this!! I was stuck on this stock for wayyyyyyyyyy to long and learned a lesson. My money was locked, loosing everyday...
    I do want to point out, there was a time when I was positive, when the stock did climb to 3.00 which I should of sold and taken my exit. My 30k would of made me far more elsewhere for the past 1 1/2 years.

    Don't forget how badly the MTTR shares have been beaten up for the past few years, so the premium is only large when put into perspective. That being said, the overwhelming majority of shareholders are still in the red with the stock price being around $4.70 / share...the unrealized losses are just smaller now

    • @nadeeml9276
      @nadeeml9276 5 месяцев назад

      Hello, what do you think about the strategy of buying more stock so long as it's under 5.50 (like around 4.60 - 5.00) knowing that Costar will buy at 5.50, is that logic sound? I mean technically a buyer would be making a certain profit in that case no? Everything being equal that is. Eager to hear your thoughts

    • @tactical1224
      @tactical1224 5 месяцев назад

      @@nadeeml9276 Your thinking is correct. Currently with MTTR at around
      $4.70 / share, It's an opportunity to make at least 17% on your money. As indicated, the deal is expected to close sometime this year (in the next 8 months), so this return adjusted to indicate the annual return would be 25.5%, and that's if it closes at the very end of the year. If it closes in the next 4 months, the time value would double that return... Matterport cancelled the earnings report which was scheduled for next month, seen as unnecesary given the pending deal with CoStar. This displays confidence in the deal closing, probably within the next few months. I only wish that the second $2.75 of CoStar stock being offered to shareholders of MTTR had been a percentage of CoStar stock instead of the straight dollar value as CoStar reoported good earnings and the stock has risen considerably since the deal was announced. Still, I believe this is a good opportunity to make a very good short term return on your money to buy MTTR stock at the $4.70 level. There are always people afraid that something will happen and the deal will fall through, which is the reason the stock is trading at a discount right now. However, on the flip side, there could be other companies that are interested in buying Matterport as a company, at a higher price point, that could cause the stock to rise higher. As an investor, it would have been nice if the short interest in the stock, which is around 4% ,had been higher as it could have created a short squeeze possibly driving it up higher than the agreed upon $5.50 value.

    I am still trying to figure out the 2.75 in stock. Is the number of shares you get based on a purchase of 2.75 the day this closes, or the day the deal is announced, or some average? I am used to deals being announced with wording like "will receive X shares for each share of MTTR, which BASED ON FRIDAYS CLOSING PRICE is worth 2.75". Not knowing what the actual value of stock you are receiving influences my decision about holding, although with Costar climbing on the news it shoulod not be less than 2.75, at least for now. I will continue to hold.

    Excellent video, thank you. Super happy about this, I was considering selling, but thank God I didnt. Also, to anyone who can answer, I know it seems like an obvious question, but Im asking it just in case my logic is wrong, or perhaps I missed something important - if this deal is almost certainly guaranteed to go through - wouldnt that mean (the MTTR price is 4.64 at the writing of this message), wouldn't it technically mean that so long as I buy MTTR under 5.50 (reasonably under 5 I guess), I'd be guaranteed to make a profit once the deal goes through? Can someone let me know if my logic is wrong on this?

      WOAH!!! Awesome for you!!
      I'm not sure exactly how you would call them, but the options should trade for about the same price as the $5.50 minus your call price of $2, so ultimately you should be able to sell them for $3.50. And you won't have much or any theta value, or time premium.
      I can't give personal financial advice, but if they were my calls I would sell as close to $3.50 as possible and not take any chances on figuring out the conversion at the acquisition's close.

    This is terrible news for me. I’ve been buying MTTR from the beginning and over the last few years it’s fallen so far down. But I kept buying because I believed in the longterm potential of the company, and thought that it could regain those losses over the next few years. Like some of the others on here, I’m going to explore buying more to try and bring my average price down.
    Anyone out there familiar enough with Co-Star to recommend continuing to hold their stock when this goes through?
    I’m pretty disappointed after really seeing a bright future for MTTR as its own company.
