That left hook really just snuck through perfectly. Not a big winding punch: straight, precise, forceful and tight. Beautiful shot. Alex is slowly becoming one of the most intriguing and beloved UFC stars. If he defends the belts3-4 times and EVER wins a HW title, he’s in the GOAT debate.
He's in the GOAT debate if he can defend the LHW title a few more times, forget winning the HW belt. If he does that, he has a really strong argument against ducking Jones, which I would definitely favor him in. Jones has a complete resume, but he never cleared the LHW as dominantly as Alex is doing rn.
Hill hasn’t fought in over a year, he’s coming off a injury and that pooch belly told me he hasn’t been training like Alex who’s been constantly fighting. I can’t believe the amount of mma professionals who picked Hill to win. Alex should of been a -500.
Hill might have lost focus for a second, even if he didn’t, result would have been the same. Before the KO, DC said that Hill should NOT be dropping his right hand in response to those body jabs. Obviously, that was EXACTLY the response that Pereira wanted. That’s why he politely pushed Herb to the side…he already knew that this was the beginning of the end of the fight. Alex also stepped on Hill’s lead foot to hold him in place then 💥 erased his ass. It was a thing of beauty!
They were both standing in each other's range at the end. Jamahal actually threw his straight left quicker than Alex threw out the shovel hook. Jamahal didn't lose focus at the end; he just saw an opening and went for it. Alex saw the same opening and also decided to pounce on it. One guy landed and one guy didn't.
I think hill thought the tight was coming and was gonna counter that but it ended being like a hand trap and that left came so fast it didn't matter. Hill got sent to the land of ghosts and shadows.

I thought the same thing. Jamahal stopped his 100% focus, only for a couple of seconds, and it cost him. I might’ve felt bad for him, but he was the one who threw the nut shot. Unfortunate, but a KO is a KO. Defend at all times
There was a lead up to the next exchange and Poatan didn’t immediately jump on him, if hill lost his focus then that’s definitely his own problem as a fighter imo, plus hill literally throws the first punch on the next exchange, I really do not see any viable excuse for this L. The nut shot intentional or not shows a huge gap between these fighters cuz either it’s purposeful and he’s an asshole who got scared or it was accidental which means hill is just not very good

I saw what Alex didn’t with Herb, saw Jamal reaction too, I even saw Alex stepping Jamal’s foot in the knockout, but never saw the change of angle, this is genius from you.
While Jamahal did get knocked tf out, i think to fight someone like alex you gotta be mad focused on rythm and timing. I think that improper pause from from the kick didn't allow hill to get back into the groove. However alex was still focused because he wanted to keep going. That's where I agree.
DISAGREE BECAUSE JAMAL WAS IN SUCH A GOOD POSITION ALSO THAT HIS DIRECTOR ARRIVED FIRST IN POATAN AND LUCKYLY DIDN'T HIT POATAN. ANALYZE BOTH PUNCHES. JAMAL'S ARRIVES FIRST BUT DOESN'T HIT ALEX. THIS SHOWS THAT JAMAL WAS IN A GOOD POSITION ALSO FAVORABLE TO KNOCK OUT POATAN IF HE LANDED THE PUNCH. SEE THE BID. POATAN WAS A GREAT RISK OF BEING KNOCKED OUT AT THAT MOMENT.
Chael, I agree with you on the loss of focus, that is a very interesting point to bring up. But id like to share my perspective, if you happen to watch the fight again, look at the lead hand battle between them. Pereira and Hill bump gloves in a rhythm, and Pereira lands great shots off of breaking that rhythm . Mainly left jabs to the body to condition Hill to parry low with his lead. When they go back into the fight after the crotch kick, Alex advances, and they continue the hand fighting, bumping lead hands in that rhythm. Pereira is again the one to break that rhythm by feinting a straight right, all while he is holding Hills right glove with that right arm of Hill fully extended. He sort of drops/parries Hills right hand to slip the left hook right over top. I think Pereira is levels above in his game plan, and a lot of that also contributed to Hills loss of focus. From what I have seen, Alex Pereira showed there are levels to his standup that most fighters don't see the full extent of. I may be overthinking things, but I think Alex is very intentional, and it seems to get better with every fight. This is ofc best put on display when Pereira's opponent obliges in keeping the fight on the feet. the Strickland fight was extremely similar to this.
You can't lose what you don't have. Hill wasn't focused before, during or after the fight. He was scared. It's normal to be scared but Jamahal was scared out of his mind. With that said. I don't think a fully focused Hill beats this Pereira.
I swear Chael has such bullshit arguments when it comes to brazilian fighters, like. Hadn't he just said he'd never talk down of Oliveira again after that stunning performance against Dariush? Now one contested score loss later he's back to shit talking Charles; then the time that he just made it the fuck up that Poatan had calloud out Anthony Smith and never called out Adesanya... And finally this horrible take that looks like he hasn't stopped to rewatch even once what happened, glossing over crucial details and trying to sell an entire different picture of what happened.
The glove touch before the KO has determined that was a lie! It was obvious Hill did all that barking before the fight because he was scared. Im kinda tired of the sound of his voice already.
If u watch the fight closely in first 2 mins whenever Hill strikes any combination towards Alex his right dropped on every strike and if I saw it Alex also saw it too so the left hook was always coming
I appreciate that point of view, and i do think that partial interruption threw him off guard for a second. But i saw it differently. Pereira saw smt in the position, managed to get him all the way backed close to the cage and could not let the ref call it off right there. He had Hill where he wanted and studied his movements + reactions for 3min. Took a charge forward while grabbing Hill's lead hand down to set up the deadly hook. A thing of beauty!
Well you are supposed to keep going until the ref stops you and people making excuses for Hill is ridiculous because he was going to lose regardless because he isn’t the same as far as skilled standing so yeah no matter what if he looked away that’s his mistake but of course people will make excuses for him!! If Ref stops the action, Ref should step in even if just for a second and follow the normal procedure and then restart the action. Not doing that is distracting to the fighters and since Alex was the one dictating the weird sequence and Jamal simply reacting to it, it puts Jamal at the disadvantage. I think Herb understands that and we won't ever see a repeat of what happened last weekend.
Your right as soon as Alex hit him he lost focus
You aren't talking about Pereira stepping on Jamahal Hill's foot and making a faint with his right hand just before knocking him out with his left hook. That was actually the distraction, not Hearb Dean.
It was herb too.

There is no excuse... They even touched gloves after Herb steps back! When they got back at it, Jamahal threw a punch right before being knocked out!
Hill, DC and (now) Chael are starting to create this narrative to stain Pereira 's victory.
True
Hill really was distracted. If you can't see that then you're a bias casual
@@SlapDamagethen please explain how he was so distracted that he threw a left before any other strike was thrown? Calling someone bias while clearly overlooking straight facts is CRAZY!!!!
What did Hill say about it? From what I’ve seen he took the loss no excuses but maybe he made a follow up statement
@@SlapDamage, if Hill lost focus it was his problem. The fight was on! And Pereira even had good sportsmanship to touch gloves with him to continue the fight after getting rid of Herb Dean.
Loosing focus is not a fighter's excuse. Alex with broken toe, he fights. Low blow to Alex, he fights.
Alex is the one that took a nut shot and just said keep going. The dude is a legend.

Another pathetic casual take from Chael. Hill gave him three hand grabs and throw a punch before getting KO'd.
No one is talking about how Alex stood on Hill's foot. Gangsta
'footwork'
Growing up on the streets in the 70's& 80's we had lots of street fights . No guns or weapons, just old fashion fighting. Well I had a friend , the toughest guy for miles . His thing was when he was going in he would hook his foot behind the other guys ankle. So when the guy tried to back up he was unable to and loose balance . Then the left's and rights would take over . I tried it a few times and it worked .
Southpaw v orthodox, ah hello
this
That’s not ilegal; it’s part of the game; this is Mix Martial Arts (MMA) almost everything is legal except punching in the back of the head or kicking the balls! 🤔
Jamahal hill could have had the focus of a Tibetan monk and his night was still ending the moment pereira threw that left.
Not really, Poatan was piecing him up the whole fight. He did however, lose consciousness.
The problem is not focus. Its that left Alex's left hook is broken. UFC need a balance patch to fix that. Alex is OP!
Also his right calf kick
😂 mofo needs a nerf we don't like this meta
😂😂 bruh I'm stitches.…i guess that L to Adesanya was cuz he didn't finish downloading that new update😂 Alex’s domination run right now got me questioning what happened that fight? Alex can't be stopped right now
In this fight the focus was 100% the problem. I still think Pereira would have won to be fair but we can't know for sure.
@TheSoulmantp2 that was just a case of try enough and you will win eventually he'll statistically if we fought alex every day forever eventually we would get lucky also
Losing focus is generally what happens when you take a Pereira left hook to the face
lol 10 minutes talking about footwork and doesn't even mention that Pereira steps over Jamahal front foot just before the left hook
Dude the fight was over when Alex waved off Herb Dean after getting low blowed. Jamahal must have been like "damn that was gangst-" CRACK "... where am I"
No excuses lol hill isn't on Alex's level
I went back and watched it, he didn't lose focus. He touched gloves, got back in his stance and was ready to go. He just lost.

I think Aspinall can stand up to him, and make Alex the underdog for once.
Lost FOCUS???
Lost CONCIOUSNESS!!!
LoL!!
Hill hasn’t fought in over a year, he’s coming off a injury and that pooch belly told me he hasn’t been training like Alex who’s been constantly fighting. I can’t believe the amount of mma professionals who picked Hill to win. Alex should of been a -500.
Yeah you lose focus when you get concussed by a left hand
After the nut shot Hill takes 3 steps to the left, plants, steps forward & throws a straight left.
Fuck Chael, that Left hook made me lose focus
😂
Hill might have lost focus for a second, even if he didn’t, result would have been the same. Before the KO, DC said that Hill should NOT be dropping his right hand in response to those body jabs. Obviously, that was EXACTLY the response that Pereira wanted. That’s why he politely pushed Herb to the side…he already knew that this was the beginning of the end of the fight. Alex also stepped on Hill’s lead foot to hold him in place then 💥 erased his ass. It was a thing of beauty!
"saying words that no one can understand, that person get listed as an expert" - Chael is the goat, HOF fighter and greatest broadcaster ever
“They are just balls, it’s no big deal”
He didn't lose focus, he lost consciousness.
I saw that straight left from hill first , and i been trying to watch video but i can’t make out how hill didn’t land , did Alex see it coming, or what tha ? I’m puzzled, how hill didn’t land ???
Uncle Chael, I hate to tell you that not only did jamal not “lose focus” he gave alex a thumbs up and a glove touch before they got back into it

His eyes were on Alex, he didn't see the punch coming until it was too late. Chael watch it again.
Sonnen and DC are always bias in favor of US fighters, specially against Brazilians.
if u look at the real clip, hill never turned and he touched gloves before resuming. furthermore he took a counter step to the left as he touched gloves which makes this argument that pereria got some advantaged position during a loss of focus a bogus argument.
Alex also stepped on Jamahals foot right before the left hook
Jamahal literally threw a punch that Alex slipped and countered from, Hill saying he didnt have time to reset is bs.
Uncle Sonnen has nothing else to say so decided to spend his focus on a 11 min video that explains nothing but how great Poatan is
Wait until Chael finds out Alex stepped on Jamal hills foot before landing the KO
The nut shot intentional or not shows a huge gap between these fighters cuz either it’s purposeful and he’s an asshole who got scared or it was accidental which means hill is just not very good
@@A1_369-y7l it isn’t an excuse, it’s just observation. Attention got temporarily interrupted. Jamahal wasn’t quick enough to get back to 100% discipline, he threw a punch and got outplayed. Simple
@@A1_369-y7l Thats the way i see it. Its not like herb stepped in and out and jamahal was sitting there with his hands down wondering what herb was doing. Jamahal got taken out of the moment briefly, got back into it but wasn't 100% there as if nothing happened and it cost him. Same thing can happen from being distracted by something happening outside the cage, its really just a sign of him not being at the highest level.
@@guybrushtwood He threw a punch, and if his punch landed, he would be considered a genius. So, its better just dont make excuses. He lost, he will be back, hopefully better and thats it.
@@mourao7892 I don’t think you understand my opinion. I wanted Poatan to win. Jamahal was super lame in the build up. I was stoked when Alex shovel hooked Jamahal’s lights out.
Was just saying that Hill lost his focus momentarily because of the ref. I even said that he should have been ready to defend himself at all times.
Poatan’s best weapon is his left hook. Hill’s biggest weakness is he leaves himself open to a left hook.
“They’re just balls, no big deal” 🤣😂

That's a terrible take. If a fighter who gets a Illegal blow says he is fine, why shouldn't he continue. Time out is to protect the one who received an illegal blow not the one who gave the illegal blow. Then Poatan first touched gloves with Hill and later (after a while) Countered Hill's Punch. Hill was the one who punched first.
Ya hill is straight making lame excuses for his loss is all, and somehow chael is eating it up, or more then likely just wants to make a controversial video to get people to click and comment... and well it worked.
They touched gloves and Alex was laser focused so that he didn't even look at the ref. Hill paid the price for it
alex definitely took advantage and fought dirty. he took a step closer during timeout, hell he even stepped on hill foot while he punched him to make a glancing blow more effective. and nobody realized hill got robbed. herbs got rules, alex doesn't ignore a ref, herb should have seperated them. this should never happen again. hill aint even trying to say it wasnt fair, or really pointing blame, but he has valid points. thanks chael for being unbiased
Hill made the first move after the break he threw a kick lol sorry but the bad guy is wrong here 😂
Once again Chael living in an alternative dimension. Jamahal never turn away once.
Me personally I feel like Alex was already going to be a tuff fight but people might call me a casual which I don’t care becuase I’m a Muay Thai fighter my self 😂 and I can tell with over being in the ring/octagon when a ref like that happened you can look at hills face and can see he was clearly paying full attention to dean and was not even looking more focused on Alex but Alex on the other hand was full zoned in just straight locked in and that’s not a excuse to loosing 😂😂I just feel like if Hearb dean never got involved from the non threatening grion shot hill would’ve put some work in but it is what it is
Jamahal threw a a straight left before and alex countered with a left hook. He was focused enough the gage distance to know to throw so all this shit about him losing focus is complete bs. He literally threw a punch lmao
Jamahal got countered and shadow realm’d.
Bro hill looked terrified at the face off 😂😂😂😂😂😂

it was such a quick moment, too.
"Time out!.. oh, wait. Time in!" aaaand bada-boom

incorreto. The touch gloves just after, and both threw punchs... The difference was hill didnt conected. please dont try to find excuses, it was all Poatan credit and The only reason it happened is because the power of his punches are from another world lol

No need to make excuses uncle Chael. You were wrong in your prediction, so just admit it brother. Chill.
Hill was distracted with theatrics. Standing at the cage entrance, catching the arrow. Hill wasn’t being present.
He threw an unfocused right hand
Idk, it feels like Alex is miles ahead skillwise
Pereira was beating Hill no matter what 🤣
Facts
He was in the *middle* of a left straight when he got kd'ed. Pls people, don't be stvpid.
The glove touch before the KO has determined that was a lie! It was obvious Hill did all that barking before the fight because he was scared. Im kinda tired of the sound of his voice already.
Hill wasnt fully focused? Man watched the punch come straight to his face lol
Chael tells the girl at the optical store “Make the glasses extra loose.. I like to push them up every five seconds”😂
