Nice video! I just bot one yesterday in good shape for $75 from our local thrift store. So yours is well worth $100 being set up and serviced. I like my machine which is a 128 with the button to push up the bobbin case. It is my first time with the vibrating shuttle Singers and it is bit different from all my other machines but still very interesting and fun!!
It is nice that her decals are worn. To me it means she has been well loved. Just love the sound of the old machines. Wish we were closer, would love to get one for my granddaughter.
We're cleaning out the apartment we just rented...the previous tenant went to jail/evicted so everything was left....and i found this exact machine in 1 of the upstairs bedroom closets and there was also a sewing machine table in the hallway with another vintage machine but it's not Singer. Let's just say this girl is happy to clean someone else's mess for once! Lol.
Wow, that’s a beauty Carla! What a peculiar little bobbin - the bullet bobbin!😃Very fun to see. You and I had the vintage sewing machine vibe going on today! Yay!!
Isn't the bobbin fun?! So crazy that we both did our vintage machines the same day! I love your girls! I have a Kenmore that I will NOT be culling from my herd. She's so pretty she'll make your heart stop!
Thanks for the thorough vlog on this machine and especially for sharing where to buy the parts. I paused the vlog, went to the website, and purchased the hand crank and thread pin for my reproduction version. I would have gotten the electric motor also but it was sold out. I'm sure you'll be able to sell her quickly but I think it's gonna be hard for you to let her go. Now I want to see all your sewing machines.
I'm so glad you found your parts! I will do a video for each of my girls I let go, and yes, it is hard to let them go, I love them! However, you should see how happy people are when they buy them! They love them just like I do!
My daughter bought a house and the previous owners left a vintage sewing machine behind, we didn’t know that you could still get parts for them, I’ll have to tell her. It will be fun putting her back together.
That’s a beautiful machine Carla! I remember my Aunt had a lot of vintage machines she cherished. This one, she would probably offer to purchase from you if she were still with us! I didn’t know you had so many machines, wow!
I have a similar machine that belonged to my grandmother. It needs some major work. I’ve been waiting to take it to someone to repair. Maybe I’ll attempt it myself.
Really interesting. Thank you. I am so sad my mom threw her old Singer out last Year . She is 82 years old and had her the most of her grown up life . Love your mashine
That is too bad, Lene! However, you can get yourself another one, and know that she has been a loved and useful member of someone's home. In fact, I think you need to get one to fill that hole a little bit. Sewing machines are good for the soul.
i just wanna say tysm for this vid, i decided to restore this sewing machine thts been in my family forever n this video was so helpful to start understanding her and how to fix her!
Carla, she is a beauty. I hope you show us the rest of your children. I have 5 sewing machines and I love everyone one of them.thry all have personalitys and only one is a little picky about the way things are set up to sew. I have found that each one has a best stitch and they all are good stitchers overall. My husband thinks I just need one machine ......but now he has fallen in love with them also. Thanks for sharing your beauty with us.

2 years later. But i just scored a 1941 singer not sure which model the 127 or 128 but... its very clean and i can manualy move the needle. The table its in is on the other hand needing some good old tlc. Looking it up.... they are not cheap. But got mine free. Tho i had to haul it a block and a half. 😁 great video.
Hi Carla, so interesting seeing how these old machines work 👌. I have recently inherited an old machine that has the same type of bobbin and case. I haven't tried to use it though as I think something might be missing 😖. It's lovely to have it in my sewing room though 😉. The quote...."they don't make them like this anymore" comes to mind 😋😁😘
Well, Sally, do you know what model it is? If it's a Singer, it can be put to rights. If it's not, it can probably be put to rights, but with a lot more effort. In the meantime, they do make good company and are excellent listeners.
I'll bet they are fairly easy to find in OK, and at a reasonable price, too. OK is WAY less expensive than CO! We lived in Keyes and Boise City for a year each. Housing was half or less, what it is in CO.
She's beautiful. I've been wanting to get one that comes in a case, to travel with, but out here they want like 150-300 and alot of them have rust ( I guess cuz of the moisture and salt in the air lol) ty for sharing
Lovely video I just got an 1893 treadle machine and somehow I lost the bobbin cover on the way back. It has been in one family through three generations and it looks absolutely lovely. How do we figure out which model it is? And it also where to get replacement parts what do you recommend? And how about a replacement manual? Thanks for doing these videos and keeping these beautiful machines alive
Beautiful! I have been in search of a feather weight for a while now but have not been willing to pay the price asked on the machines I have seen. 😏 I also want to find a flat top treadle. Exactly how many machines do you own? I have six, but only one is an antique. The others are just "old".
I think I have about 25. I have four modern machines, one I could let go of. I love my Faetherweight, she's a keeper! Don't pay more than $300, and that's with her box and at least some of her goodies. You can find them for that price, you just have to be vigilant.
I paid $5 for only the bobbin tire, completely ridiculous.. I bought it from my sew repair guy, he tells me that some other place it's more expensive.. They must cost $0,25 cent to make.. Thank you for the great explanation. I got the same but my bobbin wider is at the bottom..
hello love the very beautiful video please as a friendly reminder can you please kindly film how to operate the sewing machine electric foot pedal how it's used please ok? Please kindly reply back ok? Thank you very much
If the husband isn’t griping about your machines you’re good. I’m trying to resist buying a Singer 99 for $20 just because I already have 2 cabinets. I’m definitely bit by the Singer collecting bug.
hello it's a great video it was worth the time to wait for it please kindly film how to operate the sewing machine electric foot pedal how its used to sew please kindly film ok?please kindly reply back ok?thank you very much
Marian, You might need to clean your shuttle or sometimes the thread has worn a groove in the spring and then you need to find another. Lint collects under the spring on the side of the shuttle, also there could be rust. Find the right size screw driver and remove the screw and clean it all out and then polish with Mother's Mag polish using a soft scrap of tee shirt.. Sharon
There's another way to secure stitching. Make a few stitches, release presser foot and push work through a tiny bit. Then return work back to first stitch and lower foot. Carry on stitching as normal. This means you have overstitched the start and it is secure. Repeat this process at the end.
Thank you so much, Teri! Pueblo is an economically depressed city-she won't bring as much here as she would elsewhere in the US. I have had people from other states with relatives near here snatch up my machines, though, so maybe I'll start her at $125.
@@StayStitching Even in a depressed city I say start out at bust out retail, you never know who may be looking for that exact model and would be willing to travel to pick her up. We drove 2 hours to get out vintage Singer. Good luck!
I have a 99 model made in 1922. The belt is dry rotted , so it is going to break. I was going to go to home depot and get a gasket for a larger plastic pipe. The ones that use a gasket.
hello karla in your most recent video I see you have what looks to be a singer 328k sewing machine in the background it would be very beautiful to watch you thread it up and do some sewing with it please ok? Please kindly reply back ok? Thank you very much
Love the hair cut Carla! I don't know how you are going to decide on which of your 'babies' you are going to put up for adoption, a hard decision to make that's for sure! I see allot of feather weights at the auction we follow and I've been tempted to get one for future quilting classes. What's your thought on the feather weight machines?
I think the way I'm going to decide is by knowing which ones I can never part with and knowing someone has to go:( The Featherweight is an excellent little machine! My Featherweight is on my forever list, I love her to death! I recommend, but would not pay more than $300, and that's for one with her box and a lot of her goodies.

Best of luck but the case is really heavy and I wouldnt trust lifting it up by the handle. The case is good for keeping out dust though:)
This was so informative. These machines are works of art. Maybe my basic singer 2277 if I keep it long enough will be in the same category
Doc, if it's metal, it'll last a hundred years! If it has plastic gears, it won't.
