I just bought the 128 for $50. It needed new wiring and the knee peddle needed to be replaced because it was stuck in the on position. It now has a foot peddle. Thank you for this video. It helped me to become acquainted with my new machine. :)

I love watching how easily people thread needles: I am there for ten minutes trying to do. Even if I try one of the needle threaders it takes me ages to get the threader through the needle! Thanks for getting straight to the point on your video: very useful.

I already have a working Singer 201 inherited from my Mother and also two modern machines, but on walking past a gate where a 128 had been abandoned with a “Free - Take Me” sign, I couldn’t just walk on. It seems criminal to just leave it there so I brought it home with me as a project to see if I can get it working. Even if I am successful, I think they are beautiful machines to look at, so I’m happy either way!!

Thank you!!! The bobbin reloading video just kept me on a project instead of trying to buy one pre-threaded and having to wait. I’ll check the oiling one next to keep it purring, I got a 1929 singer 128 for my paintball apparel and gear company. Slides over denim with ease and looks insane rethreading the bobbin, like futuristic sci-fi from a 93 year old machine.

Great video! I was on the phone with a friend in New Mexico as we both watched the video as she threaded the bobbin, threaded the shuttle, and then threaded the needle on her 127 with total success! I've shared it with my Pinterest board so I can remember what to do when I'm ready to thread mine! Thanks so much for the terrific instructions!

If it is one of the older ones, it is not supposed to run backward. Only the newer machines have that capability. On the really old ones, you need to turn the fabric to sew backwards.

Tension is adjusted though 2 adjustments the tension disc on the front of the machine (as seen here ruclips.net/video/VVA0Tv7ZeOY/видео.html) and the bobbin case itself. You work to find the balance of when the thread locks in the fabric is does not pull the bobbin thread though or the top thread down. This Video may help :) ruclips.net/video/S43_-Z6C114/видео.html Best to start getting the bobbin tension set then work on the tension disks
