Well Said!!! I enjoyed it very much and I must say I thought it was very strange when I first came her that very few people Say As salaamu alaikum to you. When in America Muslims ALWAYS give each other the greeting. But then I figured maybe theres just to many muslims here you'd be salamming all day. But I still give salaams to women :)

It's a very important topic, this one regarding cultural differences and identity in a multicultural world. I appreciate you taking the time to elaborate- however, I was a bit confused by the gorilla- guerrilla story, because I didn't see what it had to do with the topic. Nonetheless, thank you for speaking about this matter. Could you do more videos about this issue? It would be interesting to see the perspective at the present time.

Great presentation Ali Alsaloom. I am impressed, as an Arab woman myself living in Sweden, I see people who are trying to do the same, but most are stuck in a vicious circle, so they end up drawn to the two extremes: Islamic fundamentalism or drug addiction and criminal activities.
I have yet to see a normal Arab in europe!

Ridiculous- "ahmed will you gas my car at 12 noon", Essa "will you press my clothes", you do realize that the expats deserve the credit where its Due (in any given sector, beyond the domestic chores that were made mention of) and in return the locals are entitled to being treated as our hosts. Ignorance permeates and erodes relationships. To each their own, everything has a way of balancing itself. Ps: This coming from an expat that was born and raised in the country, so much so, I have the UAE emblem tattooed to my shoulder

Westerners do not understand why Emarati people come late to meetings. Westerners hear the phrase (inshallah) and they conotate it to being alittle late. It is very usual to be late as an Arab or an Emarati. I am not saying that as a bad thing, but this is the reality of things in the UAE and most Gulf countries.

How about treating your guests workers from less developed countries with more respect. There are many reports of abuse and especially sexual abuse of foreign domestic workers.

Why the lecturer uses English while he is talking about respecting our values and heritage . Isn't language part of our values and culture ?

have you seen the audience, usually ted talks are given in English especially fi the attending audience is of many backgrounds, and whether he speaks in Arabic English, french or even Hungarian, it does not dilute the importance and value of his message.
