There he is! Good to see ya, Ben. We had the same weather issues down below you in Yelm. Your yard looks fantastic with all those figs growing everywhere. Makes me want to plant figs around all my rhododendrons, lol. Looking forward to seeing future updates on the in ground figs. You've got them really close together and I want to do the same but have hesitated due to how large some of these varieties get. Looks like you've got lots of pruning in your future. Congrats on the new baby and take care Ben!

You have been missed! It has been a tough year for figs. I have only gotten a bout ten ripe figs. Lots of figs, just not ripening in the PNW. Your back yard is going to look really nice when you are done!

I’m down in Olympia and my garden wasn’t so great this year. Everything was set back by about two months. The only things that fruited decently was my blueberries, raspberries, a couple blackberries, currants, and elderberries. I’m working on growing my fig collection but now I want to focus on great varieties for our area.

Your yard is beautiful. I have a more typical Seattle yard (small), but still have made space for a couple fig trees. Thanks for the information, it's inspiring

Yeah, I feel your pain with weather this year. We had last frosts through mid May and it really was hard to get the plants going quickly when the weather warmed up drastically in June. We've been planting more berries to be a little more reliable even with all the difficult weather. Our raspberries did great and our strawberry patch is filling out, so next year should be really nice. The gooseberries have been growing like they're not really bothered by anything. In the PNW you should be swimming in berries (I grew up in Edmonds, WA) :)

Hello! New subscriber thanks to Vinny Figs for pointing me your way. I'm in Western WA too and was definitely a disappointing year for most things in the garden. I'm looking to add 2 fig varieties to my backyard garden so am VERY interested in what you might have available to sell or give out. I'm on the East side but will come to wherever you are to pick up! The only fresh fig I've ever tasted is a desert king so I'm interested in trying others. I especially like that golden riverside you raved about. Would be interested in potted trees but would take a couple cuttings of that one if none are available. Hope we have a better season next year!

Yo Ben, when we Italians have a wet season, and we know it by the weather network, we simply lay the pots on their sides so the plant does not get water logged. Im in Canada, 40 min north of Toronto Maryann, aka

Great to hear from you Ben. Congratulations on the baby & your new endeavors. Your gain, our loss. Like Mike Kincaide & others. I noticed how close you planted the figs. How will you able to walk between the trees to maintain & pick fruit. It would be great if you would do a video on the strategy, including pruning (or provide a link to information that we could check out.) I have a small yard. Dense planting would be great, if I could figure how to do it correctly.

Good to see an update Ben! It’s been a bummer year for figs, but a great one for bonsai. I’m tempted to hit you up for figs now😎. We’re going to have to hook up and do a collaboration video one of these days. Hopefully family life treats you well. It can be challenging, but so rewarding! Enjoy life, bro🤙

You don't think you are planting them too close?
I bought a fig tree and planted it into the ground. In one year it grew 3x. It was a lot different than a potted fig tree.

    Hi Ben,
I'm in San Francisco, right near the ocean. I want to grow a fig in a pot. Can you recommend a good variety? It is cool and foggy and dark all summer, around 65° high. Our only warmth comes in September-Oct, when it is usually around 75°-80°. We have a large tree at the community garden, it makes a lot of fruit, but it never ripens. I just ordered a Violette de Bordeaux cutting. I hope that is a good variety for this weird climate.

Good afternoon Ben. Thank you very much for your videos. very useful information. I want to ask you to send me all your cuttings of varieties of figs. I also have a little son growing like yours and I want him to eat figs too. Thank you very much and good luck.
