I was always in awe at how well this music synced up with the boss of Area 6 when it was doing it's laser attack and the drum roll quieted before starting back up again. Beautiful.
Between this being in 5/4 and Ganondorf’s battle theme being in 13/8, the N64 era was definitely Nintendo’s era of experimental music composition… and building it into boss music battle themes.
yeah i mean historically at that period of time they were a lot of experimental music. fun fact this is in quartal which is used a lot in the 80s. try to listen to Emerson Lake Palmer by Tarkus you will hear where the inspiration comes from
Discoveries like this is making me hope that one day, someone will reverse engineer the game, make a PC port of it and include all the uncompressed sounds in their full glory.

This was my favorite part about the boss fight , the boss music never failed to get me hyped, even if i played it a million times
and all the dialogue! even if most were repeated one liners they were legendary voice lines!
