  • Hi friends! Fall is upon us and it is the perfect time to get some planting done! Over the past few weeks I have collected some varieties I have had my eye on including 3 types of Rudbeckia which I am trialing for my main flower border and several other items that I think will add so much beauty to my gardens! I hope you enjoy spending some time with me in my gardens!

You are an artist in your flower garden! Very pretty placement of your flowers! You may want to overwinter your reddish black elephant ear inside your house, and bring it out next year. It's a nice addition and makes a splash of color with the large leaves. You look like your finger is doing well, so happy for you! SE Pennsylvania (daughter went to U Pitt.)

Thank you so much Nancy! I did end up moving them to containers for the remainder of the season and will try them again next year! I am still having a lot of challenges with my finger but am hopeful to get in with some good doctors to move me forward!😊. Have a great weekend!

I am trialing rudebekia and coneflower as well. Just planted about a week ago. My issue is I don’t have any place in back or front that get 6 plus hours of sun. Hopefully with our Louisiana climate it will make it. I only have two trees but the are HUGE! A pine in the back and oak in the front. Can you suggest a hydrangea for my yard situation?

I hope your rudbeckia and coneflower are successful! My Annabelle and Limetta hydrangeas do great in a good amount of shade. With your warmer climate I’m not sure exactly how they would perform but may be worth a try! Also some of the panicle hydrangeas like limelight which usually prefer a lot of sun could do well with more shade in your zone. I hope that helps!

Hey Devon, I have my elephant ears in pots and then that way I just cut them down and put the pots in my basement in fall and then just pull them back out again in the spring and they bloom again and you can plant little cute annuals around them if you prefer in the pot 😉 I have a green one and a purple one that have bloomed for many years now 🤩 Thanks for sharing all your new plantings 🥰

Hi Lorraine! I may do that too! I think I will dig them up and transfer to a pot for the rest of the season and use them somewhere next year! Do you water them at all over the winter?

@@onegardenatathyme No, I do not water all winter and then just put them back out in Spring

So pretty! You are using your hand a lot. Is it still healing? I'm doing the great debate about when to cut back my perennials. Some are past their prime but I don't want summer to end!

Hi Patti! Thank you! I am trying to use my hand but my index finger is still unfortunately having a hard time. Still a lot of pain, swelling, and stiffness. I keep hoping it will slowly continue to get better! I know what you mean, I always struggle whether or not to cut back or leave a lot for the birds😊. I’m sad to see summer ending but trying to look forward to fall (just not winter lol)!
