    Baidu = google, Alibaba = Amazon, Tencent = no analog but could be Microsoft, if you overweight gaming and LinkedIn.

      It's not 100% true in detail but in the oversimplified summary of what they do, yes. They offer a lot more than their US counterpart and deeply integrate themself into Chinese people's daily life which can only be done by very loose regulation.
