If you want to learn why the embargo remains in place, you need to investigate how much political contributions are made by the cuban-american-owned businesses that are profiting from the expensive shipping incurred by families who ship goods & foods to their families on the island. Meanwhile few of them know that when they buy from those companies, they are paying an intermediary because Crowley is the only authorized maritime company authorized to ship items to Cuba via ship. It is a lot cheaper to send a barrel, that's so heavy it doesn't get weighed, from NY to the DR, than it is to ship less items from Miami to Cuba. Liz touched upon it when she did a segment that highlighted the cost of sending remittances via Western Union and one of the local cuban-american-owned businesses.

Thanks for the investigation. Can you tell us specifics of products or services that Cuba cannot obtain because of the embargo? Then we can encourage our elected US officials for change? All I find are things that Cuba has no money to buy or such vague generalities that the problems cannot be identified so they may be addressed.
