      Hi Arshad, I got it from Ebay about 8 years ago for £55.00, don't remember where from, as always shop around, Fluke is the best if you can get one for same price, there are very good China made, regards george staszak

    I have a Worcester Bosch boiler, just been serviced. I have my central heating flow temp set to 55c but the return temp is only about 5c different at 50c. I have two rads with no TRV as the boiler manufacturer said to not put a TRV on the upstairs bathroom rad and also not one on the hall rad as that is where the wall T/stat is located as these should act as a bypass. On that basis where there is no water flow restriction on those two rads, is that why I am not getting a 20c difference at my boiler flow and return? Thanks

      Hi Robert, thanks for asking, they and others are talking rubbish, a rad without a TRV is just on FULL (expensive)
      Yes, never put a TRV where a ROOM stat is which goes in the LOUNGE!! the clue is in the name.
      After 15 minuets you will not get 20c diff. unless
      1. lots of 22mm
      2. auto by-pass under the boiler
      3. balanced.
      The pump needs these to get the heat out of the boiler or it will overheat as you have.
      Please have a look at my other vids on this subject. regards, George Staszak

    So what should the difference be between the top and bottom of the radiator generally?

    • @mrcombiBedford
      @mrcombiBedford  4 года назад

      Hi Samuel, the top centre is for balancing the whole system, the bottom is sludge. 1st. turn on the heating to MAX for 12 minuets, turn ON all the rad valves fully, make a list of all the rads then measure all the top / bottom centres see which is under / over heating. Turn down the over heating rads lock shield valve. The aim is to get as many at the same temp should be about 24C from the nearest to furthest rad to the boiler in a 3 bed semi. No? fault is sludge, pump, by-pass. Hope that helps. george staszak

      Hi Samuel, The top is the maximum temperature has been reached after 10/15 mins. we can tell witch is over heating thus turn that lock shield down to even out the colder rads, and the bottom tells us if that one has sludge up against the others of a similar width.regards george staszak

    Hi very informative video, when you are balancing the radiator at the flow and return, do you point the laser thermometer towards the actual radiator panel at the flow and returns ends for the rad, not the copper pipe

    • @mrcombiBedford
      @mrcombiBedford  3 года назад

      Hi Alan, thanks for the question, aim to the corner of the rad, diagonally about 6cm from the edge. The number shown is wrong because the laser is reflected away thus giving a lower number. Do NOT look at the red dot, it will damage you eye.

      Hi Arshad, thanks for reply, a very useful tool, don't forget the number are wrong because the rad does not reflect back but all the rads should be within a similar number

      @@bahiaharjinder Thanks for the question, laser stats don't give the real temperature because a rad deflects the beam thus all the figures will be out of true but we can work with the error, in water all OK
