I just lost my best friend this morning and this song provides me the necessary comfort I need to pass this tumultuous time. God rest your soul, Obadiah. I love you, my brother.
Maybe these are the first words seek first the kingdom of heaven and his righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you. St mark is part of God's kingdom the fact that St mark made the Coptic faith means that God will add to your life through life from death by death . Through jesus to more life through death by death . The psalms of David is life from sin look at davids story . The fact that St mark is using them in the agpeya he is proving life comes from death in the hours of death turning into life because that is the kingdom of heaven and God's righteousness God reverses the unmatchable .the agpeya translates to the book of hours . It helps a christian structure their day in christs suffering and they dedicate their day to christ not being complete with God because no one is complete with God . A way one can be complete with God is that they only want him even though they sin . Some sin and don't want him . Wanting christ gives you a better taste to him . To add to being complete only by going back to him isn't as good as saying you can get a better taste of christ . Why? You're showing more fruits of the holy spirit . You're showing virtue. These are the fruits of the spirit . These are the good things about coptic orthodox. The honour for God's body and blood holy communion is immense . God works through his people to show even if it's one person you will listen . It's hypocritical if we don't. We accept Jonah. We accept mary Magdalene. We don't accept mark. Blessed Holy Week. Christ is in our midst! He is and ever shall be! Sending all brothers and sisters in the world love from Anna Saint Andrew Orthodox Church Riverside, California USA
May god grant you strength love and patience my brother in Christ.Keep praying to those who are astray so that our blessed Father may bring them back to the right and correct path.
Bless the LORD! I am so glad and thankful that RUclips has become the unwitting instrument of the LORD to give reassurance to Christians of every faith!
This is so beautiful. May the peace of Almighty God which is beyond understanding keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and the love of God and may He bless you and keep you always. Thanks be to God
i have been listeing and singing this for a week. It is simply an amazing experience to praise God with His own canonical words in the Byzantine style. Are there more Psalms sung in Byzantine style?
YOOO when I heard the lyrics but didn't see the title, I thought this was from the New Testament because of its theology. But nope! It's all inspired by God. "As far as the east is from the west" there's no way they would have known that, but that means infinity since the world is round. This is truly God's Word
I'm Melkite Catholic and I long for us to become one with the Orthodox again. There are traditional Latin Catholics and Eastern Catholics that are ripe for unification with the Orthodox. The East has so much to offer the West, I have a number of traditional Latin Catholic friends that adore the Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom and its reverence for God. Another friend who has been attending the Melkite church in my area said he has been awakened to the Church Fathers through the East...
There is just one Church as established by the apostols of Christ. The Catholic church seceded from that Church in 1054 and the Orthodox Church just refers to the continuation of the traditional and original Church. The Orthodox church cannot unify with invented churches which broke away from it.
Just so everybody is clear, it was the original Patriarchy, including the original Orthodox church in Rome, responsible for signing the documents that hundreds of years later excommunicated the newfound Catholic 'Pope'. It was an original agreement that anybody changing the wording of the Creed or straying from the Orthodoxy would be excommunicated.
Which council condemned that as a heresy? It's unpopular, and I'd argue that it can be a dangerous thing to hear, but I don't think that theosis eliminates an "everyone is saved" idea.

Roman Catholics need to become Orthodox Catholics. Orthodox means 'correct worship'. Hopefully one day we'll have the roman bishop as one of our own, a senate of Apostlic Popes(Bishops), as it was in the beginning.
this is a really pretty song. sounds great in english. all the religious debate here makes me sad. me, i dont debate. i reckon if your religion makes you argue with people, you are using it wrong. as an Orthodox Christian, i have friends and family that say bad stuff about other religions and sects, but if you ask me, anyone who worships God is aces in my book. I think its hard not to notice God in your life no matter what you choose to beleive. even if you are an athiest. everyone notices God. we all just speak of Him differently.
As much respect (a lot) as I have for the Orthodox Church and their love for Theotokos, It's obvious that The Orthodox Church did not evangelize the world, it pretty much stayed behind the borders. Corruption was present both in Rome and in Constantinople. The fact is that it's the Catholic Church that evangelized the world (and that was AFTER the great schism, the new world for an example).. . Check out what the Church Fathers said (before the schism) on the unity of the Church and the bishop of Rome and how confilcts were to be resolved. About the Filioque. You believe the same thing we believe. Because of the language differences through history we say 'Filioque' - which basically uses a word 'and' insteand of 'through', but the belief is unchanged (language and culture do impact the way we word our belief, not the belief itself). If you want proof of that just check out Eastern Catholic Churches' creed. It does not include Filioque and they are in full communion with Rome. Catholic.
The Greek Septuagint, the Translation of the Seventy. Its the Bible Jesus quotes, not the Protestant Masoretic text. Contrary to opinion. Look up Codex Sinaiticus and the Septuagint. Its the oldest Bible that exists, unlike the Masoretic text, which is what the KJV uses for its old testament. The New Testament is fine, that is the Textus Receptus. The Jews translated its OT, which has some alterations.
The Oldest complete Greek septuagint Bible, is from the 4th century. The Oldest complete Hebrew Masoretic Bible is from the 11th century. It makes it more authentic to have a older copy. But yeah, Jesus and the Apostles quoted from the Greek Septuagint Bible, not the Hebrew Bible. As strange as that is.
@@Mishakol1290wow, I know I didn’t ask the question, but this really helped me with my understanding of the Septuagint. Thanks for going into such extensive detail
go to jerusalem on the greek orthodox easter n receive the holy light. does not happen for the catholic easter. n the orthodox church is the original church
Little small correction. Originally we were called th Holy Catholic and apostolic church. So people need to go back to catholicsm and the Catholics need to become Orthodoxy. C:

St mark the evangelist is an apostle . We follow christ and the apostles . We follow their writings . A way to not ignore them is by looking in depth to everything we are told about them .With blessings of hymns

i have been listeing and singing this for a week. It is simply an amazing experience to praise God with His own canonical words in the Byzantine style.
Are there more Psalms sung in Byzantine style?
Nathan yes there are many psalms Byzantine style but all originals are in Greek
Nice, Nathan! Keep it up. Hope you're still doing it.

YOOO when I heard the lyrics but didn't see the title, I thought this was from the New Testament because of its theology. But nope! It's all inspired by God. "As far as the east is from the west" there's no way they would have known that, but that means infinity since the world is round. This is truly God's Word
Wow! God truly blessed you! God Bless!

The West must return to Orthodoxy, and the Uniates must repent of their schism with Christ’s Church
I really like this I believe it blesses you when you sing with it

Templarswordxx7 Amen.
May you pass onto your descendents what was given to you by your fathers, that we may have an apostolic Church to reunite to.
tommy2toneish Amen.
There is just one Church as established by the apostols of Christ. The Catholic church seceded from that Church in 1054 and the Orthodox Church just refers to the continuation of the traditional and original Church. The Orthodox church cannot unify with invented churches which broke away from it.
Can anyone please tell me what tone this is ?
Just so everybody is clear, it was the original Patriarchy, including the original Orthodox church in Rome, responsible for signing the documents that hundreds of years later excommunicated the newfound Catholic 'Pope'. It was an original agreement that anybody changing the wording of the Creed or straying from the Orthodoxy would be excommunicated.
Based
Sounds like Father Yaccavo, or however ihis name is spelt :)

My wife and I plus our 5 children converted from the Amish we chanted this often in the Amish church in German though.
I've looked on the Divine Liturgies Music Project website for the sheet music for this, but could not find it; do you know where it can be found?
It will be with Great Vespers.
Can anyone identify the chanter and where on mt. Athos he is
He is not a monk from Mt Athos. He is a chanter doing the Psalm chant of Mt Athos in Byzantine style.
Do you know who the chanter is? If you do, would you tell us? Thank you!
I think this chanter is father Jakov from the Monastery of St Anthony in Arizona.
Papa Efraim is the chanter
✝️✝️✝️🙏🙏🙏
Does anyone know what tone this is chanted in?
Take this with a huge grain of salt because I have no idea and have a bad ear, but sounds like it could be the 4th tone?

@m. Christ that is heresy, research theosis
Which council condemned that as a heresy? It's unpopular, and I'd argue that it can be a dangerous thing to hear, but I don't think that theosis eliminates an "everyone is saved" idea.

m. Christ It is written that narrow is the way and few are they that find it.
And the rest, who are the majority, are going to hell. Why create them, then?

Leonidas Diamandopoulos is not a song is a chant.
+Makrakis Eyaggelos semantics, why don't you enjoy it instead of trying to correct everything.
+Makrakis Eyaggelos semantics, why don't you enjoy it instead of trying to correct everything.
Beautiful words. Thank you!
Catholic.

What tone is this? Plagal 3rd?
Did you ever find out?

@@evang7252 I hadn’t. Thanks!! 😁
@mishakol129 Yeah I know, I didn't wanted to sound arrogant by writing all of that : )
What translation of the Bible is this?. Would love to follow along/memorise better
This will reveal the reality of what I am saying more succinctly. ruclips.net/video/Xe4R9ThNA5g/видео.html
@@Mishakol1290wow, I know I didn’t ask the question, but this really helped me with my understanding of the Septuagint. Thanks for going into such extensive detail

Little small correction. Originally we were called th Holy Catholic and apostolic church. So people need to go back to catholicsm and the Catholics need to become Orthodoxy. C:
It is still called the One, Holy, Catholic (=Universal), and Apostolic Church. 🙂
