The DRF is brilliantly run off course, on it, the Mullins domination is so utterly mind numbing what is the point? He gets all the ammunition and is a brilliant trainer, but it's anti competition.
The likes of Mick Winters, small trainer and as mad as a bucket of frogs but what he done with Rebel Fitz and Misunited was unbelievable and he'd be well capable of training a good horse and what a character for the game. Can imagine him going to all the festivals with a good 1 🤣🤣 he's 1 of the old characters of the game, it would be brilliant

Was thinking the same JPR One. This years Arkle looks like the year Duc Des Genievres won it looks open. Was going well and was going to win the Arkle trial in November before falling :)
The Arkle does look like Duc Des Genievres year but the Irish are still miles better than anything JPR One has beaten. He's got no chance of winning, he got beat by Le Patron and Colonel Harry who would be 100/1 shots in an Arkle.

I get what your saying, but the monopoly is making smaller trainers have to be crooked and make there owners money in more colourful ways. It’s not as easy as just stepping it up, it’s like a mini economy, if you don’t have the resources and no one wants to train a horse with you it’s a domino effect and only gets worse
Surely Hercule De Seuil has to be supplemented for the Arkle. I can understand the wya he has been campaigned as he isn’t the biggest fan of heavy winter ground. However, with the way the field is cutting up surely he would have a massive chance if he ran. He has posted the highest RPR of any 2m novice chaser this season (157, which was downgraded from 160 RPR originally not sure why). He beat hunters yarn last spring in Fairyhouse, who is 6/1. Anyone know if he has had a set back, as if he hasn’t surely he has to be put in the race.
We are lucky in one way that Willie has these horses. In fairness to him, he runs his horses against each other. I think in Australia they came up with no trainer can have say 120 horses in his stable
Where were all the other trainers horses for that grade 1 two horse race...it would have been a nice pot to even finish second...if they are not taking him on they definatly won't be beating them
And de bromhead is a genius at peaking his horses for Cheltenham, he always has a stinker in February, then they seem like different horses at Cheltenham.
My comment on Mullins matter is I could be miles off but every time a new season comes Gordon Elliott seems to have bought another 20 350 grand horses and similar to Nichols. Mullins operates better with these horses for me
Answer me this JD, if National Hunt owners aren’t too worried about the prize money then why are all the owners sending their horses to Willie Mullins and not the other brilliant trainers in Ireland or the UK.
Because they want to win Graham and if you send your horse to Willie Mullins then you are clearly improving your chances of doing so immensely. My guess would be that most high end owners wouldn’t bother with the prize money if they could have success

I hear you about the winning aspect but if your horse is 3rd or 4th string in a Novice Race and you end up with Patrick Mullins or Brian Hayes as a jockey as opposed to being first string in a yard that has Jack K, Harry C or other top top jockeys then surely you'd have just as good a chance of winning. As you said there's loads of top trainers around (and some poor ones we know).....and from a punting perspective it's way better too than trying to guess if Dancing City or Kargese is better than the one Paul T picked. I have a few mates who were at the DRF and even though the media all went on about record attendances, there was never a worse atmosphere amongst punters due to the Willie Mullins affect. It ain't his fault but it is a massive problem.

Is ethical diamond similar to Galopin Des Champs. Galopin was pulled up in a heavy ground novice at Limerick before being a 100/1 6th behind Appreicate It in the 2m G1 novice at Leopardstown. Ethical Diamond has done similar They think a lot of him too

The Mullins reign will end just like every other reign. It happens in all sports , someone becomes a power house for a while and then there's a lull until the next powerhouse comes along 🤷♂️
I’d have to beg to differ on that one Russell. Coolmore have dominated Fiat racing for generations, so much so that there’s tumbleweed flying around the curragh every time there is a meeting on. Even the locals won’t go to it these days and the jumps racing is heading that way
Think there potentially needs to be a limit on the number of owners a trainer can have. Don’t really know how that would work. Willie just has too many is the problem. Everyone wants there horses with Willie which is fair, but owners need to send their horses elsewhere to save the game

Ah Johnny, the Irish Leger is a bit of a mickey mouse Classic. I'm talking about proper Group One races, the Guineas, Derby etc. Yes he's won races at Royal Ascot but that Ascot Stakes is a benefit race for National Hunt trainers.
Full marks to Johnny for his opportunistic bet on Ballyburn for the Supreme. It showed zero understanding of the horse, but great understanding of Willie Mullins. The idea that he would run the horse over the wrong trip a second time and win a very weak Grade 1 was something of a masterstroke. The second part of the plan might be more difficult. Will Mullins having seen that go all flakey on the idea of running him in the Ballymore, the race that should have been his target from the start of the season. We all know he would be unbeaten had he not made the mistake of starting at the minimum trip. It's quite strange that I haven't seen one bookmaker graphic for the Ballymore even though Ballyburn has been favourite for that race since the start of the season. I wonder why that is? Could it possibly be that they want him to run in the Supreme because they will have a chance of getting him beat in that race whereas they likely haven't got a prayer should he run over a trip that actually suits him? Trying to get away with it, or pretty much a certain win. That doesn't even seem like a choice to me, but all the media seem to want to push him into the Supreme. Are they all sponsored by bookmakers?

I’d have to beg to differ on that one Russell. Coolmore have dominated Fiat racing for generations, so much so that there’s tumbleweed flying around the curragh every time there is a meeting on. Even the locals won’t go to it these days and the jumps racing is heading that way

Think there potentially needs to be a limit on the number of owners a trainer can have. Don’t really know how that would work. Willie just has too many is the problem. Everyone wants there horses with Willie which is fair, but owners need to send their horses elsewhere to save the game

I agree regarding Mullins. Can't take anything away from him as a trainer but it is making NH racing terribly dull. Hit home 2 years ago not content with winning a brace of Grade 1s he has to win the County Hurdle with State Man a Grade 1 winner ahead of his handicap mark yawn.
So when somebody like mo farahh wins many road races he should be banned.

Ah Johnny, the Irish Leger is a bit of a mickey mouse Classic. I'm talking about proper Group One races, the Guineas, Derby etc. Yes he's won races at Royal Ascot but that Ascot Stakes is a benefit race for National Hunt trainers.

Full marks to Johnny for his opportunistic bet on Ballyburn for the Supreme. It showed zero understanding of the horse, but great understanding of Willie Mullins. The idea that he would run the horse over the wrong trip a second time and win a very weak Grade 1 was something of a masterstroke. The second part of the plan might be more difficult. Will Mullins having seen that go all flakey on the idea of running him in the Ballymore, the race that should have been his target from the start of the season. We all know he would be unbeaten had he not made the mistake of starting at the minimum trip. It's quite strange that I haven't seen one bookmaker graphic for the Ballymore even though Ballyburn has been favourite for that race since the start of the season. I wonder why that is? Could it possibly be that they want him to run in the Supreme because they will have a chance of getting him beat in that race whereas they likely haven't got a prayer should he run over a trip that actually suits him? Trying to get away with it, or pretty much a certain win. That doesn't even seem like a choice to me, but all the media seem to want to push him into the Supreme. Are they all sponsored by bookmakers?

Two horse race for grade one, not good enough, too many grade ones, no ew betting. Prize money to follow number of runners. More runners in a race greater the prize money, smaller numbers in a race less prize money.
