These antennas are very cheaply made. The rotor allows the antenna to wobble from side to side, so I can image it will blow around significantly when outside. For that reason, I would not try mounting it outside unless I taped the unit to the rotor, which would not allow it to turn. They are also very susceptible to signal fluctuations on weak signals. With that said, they really do work well when they are working. I have it just mounted on the second floor inside the house, and I am getting 80+ channels situated between Chicago and Milwaukee. About 20 of these channels come in with SNR of 30 or better (greater than 90% signal strength on the signal meter on the TV). I'll have to compare it to another antenna to be sure, but they really are quite good at picking up signal. Just keep it inside or in the attic and not outside unless you want to replace it every few years or so or after every wind storm.
Honestly you can mount the antenna on the tubing that the LNB was mounted on in front of the sat dish and the dish makes a good reflector. If you get a strong signal without it thats great but if you get weak patchy signals you should try using the dish.
I couldn't get very good reception from the VHF antennas. I found that removing the antennas from the molded slots in the body of the antenna and positioning them where they are sticking straight out (NOT TILTED SLIGHTLY FORWARD ON THE SLOTTED BODY MOLD) I improved my reception from 53 to 63% to 89 to 91%.
Hey man, just read this was junk, and got a $70 antenna. Which one did you get and has it lasted? I'm in the market of getting an antenna, want to get a good one. So please, if you'd like to share, which one did you get? Thanks!
I had a clear stream antenna up and was picking up 17 channels. I ordered one of these things off Amazon put it up only got three channels. ClearStream is the best antenna I have found so far.
@ Michael Andrews - These cheap arse Antenna does a better job than ClearStream! Funny as that, I got more channels with this than ClearStream 4MAX... You I bought the 4MAX Version.... Hell, I even have the V2 and Regular too.
For U.S. over the air broadcast digital TV reception - the best antenna is a UHF antenna. A bowtie UHF on a rotator is best. I use a quality rotator and as large of a UHF antenna as I could find. Pre-amps amplify the noise as well. Bigger antenna is preferable because it gathers more signal from the start. TV sucks, though.
Depend... On nice day, I get about 50+ on Cloud / Rainy Days... I get about 38-40. Of course depend your area as well. But this cheap arse thing give me more channels than the expensive ones!
so does it get the same channels as dish, if not whats the use, if channels you watch you cant get then wondering why change, yes i understand you can watch tv channels, but are they ones you dont normally watch.
polly west of course not. These cord cutters saying they get free tv are getting local channels. No cable channels. It's kinda funny tbh. Like they invented bread.
these things are horrible, i bought one, lasted a few months, the soider on the injector came apart, motor only worked indoors when new i tested it, plastic parts fell off. and range is horrible. achieved more with a passive home made antenna
Shouldn't be on the market. Doesn't work well. good for 40-45 miles and the rotors only last about 3 days. Reception is terrible. total waste of money and time.
is thear any thing that work with dvr so when switch ch it will move to that ch I find it hard to record when you have move it ever time you dvr some thing
I had the same antenna as in the video for 4 years. My old one went through 2 mini ice storms 6 blizzards with high winds around 40-60 mph. Two 80 mph windstorms and still works just not as good as my new ONN 150 mile rotating antenna from Walmart. The antenna in the video may wobble a little during high winds but not spin around like a weathervane.
These antennas are pure junk and fairy tale marketing. I should know. I built antennas for many years to use on many different frequencies for radio,tv,fm,ham, police and many other frequencies. There is a mathematical formula in wave lengths for 1/4 wave / 5/8 wave /1/2 wave and many others. What a piss poor rip off of people that don't know how to fill there cars up with gas let along any knowledge of electronics. Not everyone is an electronic expert or novice. The antennas being sold on ebay roughly 4 years ago in the beggining of the HDTV craze were some what decent. But today they are as cheap as anything i have ever seen. Pure junk that is not even electrically connected to any of the beams. You got to have a thing called a ground plane people. If the rear of the antenna is just hanging there and not wired to the rear metal back of the spread plane you have no reference to ground for any wave length or frequency to capture. Why are people so un knowledgeable about the most elementary things? Jesus! And yeah this guy knows nothing about electronics or frequencies or what make an antenna work. THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A HDTV 4K ANTENNA! It is UHF or VHF Frequencies. Proof right here that if i tell you the martians are here, you are suppose to believe me. Wake up people and go back to school and start all over again!
Yes building one yourself is the best if you know what the equations are for wavelength and all. Most people don't know anything about this stuff. My home made yagi is the best.
Save your money people. These things are complete piecesof junk. All the internal gears are made of some of the cheapest plastic I've ever seen. The coax cable is useless because it's so light weight. I'm saying there is nothing even decent about these things
what the HELL is up with this video? Did a 4 year old edit this? Why do we hear audio in the background dubbed over some other audio that was sped up? Why is it the end was blacked out? I think we saw plenty of footage b roll of you throwing the dish. wow. great. thanks.
@@origtex the o e I bought did NOT last two months! Save your money and get oh yeah g antenna that's about the same length as the one that's in this picture! And a better preamp than the one that comes with it!

Appreciate it

been about a year since you posted. how did it hold up?

I had an old antenna partly made out of welded fencing that I got 10 channels with. So I tried the 150 miles antenna and I got the same 10 channels.
how many channels did you get with the antenna

A well home made UHF antenna will work better and last longer, the rotator may be the best part of all , thank you.
I have one I loved
Good for you ! .. it works fine in a reasonably fair quality signal reception area.
thank you.
Teletenna Tech Can you make a homemade one that amplifies the signal ? if soo I need to know how
Teletenna Tech not if u need to hit long range and don't want some ugly POS eye sore on your roof.
Funny how you kicking the dish around, why not kick the pole mount too? 😂
He is going to regret breaking that dish in three days
LOL
i need how can i get it
Is it still working?
It is junk and fell apart. I had to buy a $75 unit
Original Texan oh no, I guess I be replacing it down the road. Did you do a vid on the new one? If not what did you buy?
Those “150 mile” antennas are complete junk. Had two of them. EXTREMELY FLIMSY material and got barely anything!
Agree. It fell apart about a year later. Would NOT recommend.

it's JUNK and I know that. Please don't give me a thumbs down because it is junk. . Saving about $80 a month using Roku and Sling
It's work in india???

Agreed. I need to do a follow up video. With harsh weather, some of the plastic pieces already broke. It will cost more, but buy an all metal unit.

The thing you keep calling a MOTOR is known as a ROTOR.... It does have a motor in it but you don't call your car a MOTOR!!!!!!

Travis Burrell about a big ol' holla. Thanks for watching
Its cool. I disliked the video. waste of time.
Travis Burrell I'll have to check to see how many likes there are versus dislikes I bet there's more likes
Piece of garbage for sale in the picture!
