- Well if you want to be both disturbed and entertained (As I was during this movie) come on in and watch me in total shock and awe over Alien; and Sigourney Weaver's spectacular acting.
What's your favourite (Or the part that freaked you out the most) part of the movie ?

A young modern is boarding the "Nostromo." What will he make of this "old, long, slow-moving, character-centered, no-DFX" movie? Space travel and trade at this time are as routine as a freighter crew bringing goods from one place to another in our time. The Company is sending this freighter crew to "do science" on an unexplored planet! 7:10 The Space Jockey, a mystery for decades. 8:24 Second Officer Kane = Zapp Branigan. 9:01 "Yep, he's the first." 9:22 This conversation has become iconic due to current events. 10:04 "Unknown biological organism." 10:37 "Oh, that went from zero to 100 real quick." 12:44 "That scared the Hell out of me." 14:01 "Welcome back to life." 14:17 "What the Hell's going on?" 14:28 (Open-mouthed amazement?) "I like Ripley...she thinks of what to do before acting." 16:06 "It's the Cat." 16:45 "Here we go...Sorry, my guy." 17:50 "Start shooting!" 18:25 Ripley is the THIRD Officer on the "Nostromo." 18:53 "Crew expendable? MUTHUR basically dooms them all." In 1979, this was my "WTF? Ash ISN'T Human!?" moment. 19:46 "WTF? He's a Robot!?" 20:50 "Their company is...absolutely sociopathic!" 21:34 "Save the Cat. My respect for Ripley has grown even more." 21:55 "Goodbye." 22:48 "Can you imagine being in her position?" 22:22 Escape route cut off, stop Destruct to gain time for Plan B. 25:30 "I'm half expecting to see it pop up." 26:22 "This is incredibly nerve-racking." 27:25 "Okay." 27:31 "A movie that is incredibly disturbing and entertaining...what a character, what a Badass."
I had a lot of fun with this one, and a whole lot of fun reading your comment/crazy detailed and in depth guide to my reaction. Now I'm going to picture Zapp Branigan on rewatches 😂. Thanks for the info and I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
The next one is a good one.
First movie where the woman is the hero/survivor. Quite amazing to see.
Great to see, absolutely my favourite kind of strong, powerful, female character. The way she portrays strength, emotional vulnerability, and is an absolute badass throughout it all ? brilliant.
Alice in Wonderland basically counts.
I love the old movies like this, they don't make good movies like this anymore.
It's why she survives.
1. Good head upon her shoulders.
2. She cares about the cat.
Here we got an excellent work on characters, an incredible atmosphere, based on the feel and vibes of sci-fi comic magazines like Metal Hurlant and Heavy Metal, those Ridley Scott was great fan. Sigourney Weaver stablished an absolute icon. Ripley is a survivor, who fight against her fear and just goes on.
New subscriber....I very much enjoy your reactions. Keep up the fantastic work! Peace and blessings always 🙏 😊
Glad you're enjoying them :) and many thanks.
And as usual, no one listens to the crazy cat lady. She warned you. 😉
In the dinner scene when you’re asking “what’s happening”, the crew didn’t know, either. They gave the actors minimal information to get a more candid reaction as they were squirting “blood” oh them.
BTW, if you’ve seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Ian Holm who plays Ash is Frodo Baggins in the trilogy. And if you haven’t seen the Lord of the Rings trilogy, add that to your list.
See Aliens !!!
"Beautiful... from 1979?" Can I assume that you've never seen 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, from 1968? :)
I haven't but it has been a film I've wanted to check out. Definitely putting it on my list.
It's a doozy. But it also begins the rabbit hole that is Fake Moon Landings and Stanley Kubrick. (BTW, we went, but probably faked stuff as well because money. So it's messy!)
Great reaction video. Subscribed! If you haven’t seen it, I’d love to see your reaction to The Exorcist (directors cut). Another groundbreaking 70’s film 🎥
Will have to watch the directors cut but have seen the exorcist :) Loved it the few times I've watched it.
If I was in his position, I'd send him flying out in Outerspace. No way would I have let the Alien on my ship. Captain or not, then again, my instincts would have kicked in, if I had seen that thing on his face, I don't care if I didn't know what it is, I wouldn't want to chance it, I'm not stupid enough to get myself killed over money, so I'd run, and I would probably have run for the escape pod and left everyone behind who's all stupid enough to trust Ash and this whole thing, I'd grab the cat and leave. I don't care if that makes me look like a coward, I'd want to survive.
Honestly though, Ripley was absolutely on point with her decision, he'd have been out of there. I'm not sure what I'd do if I saw the face hugger, honestly ? likely run as well, we all like to think we'd stay and bravely face it down, doubt most of us actually would. But not sure haha.
Can't be overstated the impact the character of Ripley had at the time. They're really had not been another female lead action star ever, female role models were pretty much cheerleaders and women who were expected to let the man save them in every situation, Ripley came along and blew all of that out of the water. People also will point to Linda Hamilton from Terminator movies, but Sarah Connor didn't really become badass until T2. Ripley was intelligent and thinking that clearly since the very beginning. Definitely watch the second one of the series because aliens is the best. James Cameron came in and just knocked it out of the park. This one was good as this one was fired sort of the more intelligent thinking person's movie. And the second was much more of an action film.
It's amazing the amount of women who feel inspired by Ripley. She in my opinion is a female character done right. I can't stand most these days, because there seems to be this phenomenon now, where every other lead female character is a Mary Sue. She's great everything, shames all the men, can't ever be wrong and can't be feminine. Ripley was everything, badass, funny, feminine, emotionally vulnerable, and far more intelligent than everyone in that crew for sure.
I do intend to watch the second, not sure when just yet, but it's on my list.
@@NovelReactions I think that's also because
