Nathan Caston Ginsberg was born on July 18, 1954 to Dorothy and Abe Ginsberg in Fresno, CA. He was adored by his five older siblings Bob, Phil, David, Alan and Suzi. Nate began playing piano when he was 8 years old and quickly developed a strong passion for writing music and performing in bands. He moved to the Bay Area in 1974 to start his career as a professional musician. His talent and stage presence did not go unnoticed as he performed with many renowned artists including Graham Central Station, Herbie Hancock, and Steve Miller.
Nate married Cheri Conte, his loving wife of 42 years, on September 29, 1979. When their son, Jordan, was born in 1993, Nate stopped touring to be home for his upbringing. While still performing and recording with bands locally, he began teaching music at elementary and preschools as well as private piano lessons. Nate’s love for teaching children eventually led him to open his studio, Mr. Nate’s Adventures in Music. He enriched the lives of hundreds of children for over 25 years. Nate was also a dedicated leader in Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts for 12 years. He enjoyed participating in many scouting activities including camping and backpacking, and was very proud when Jordan earned his Eagle Scout rank.
Nate dearly loved his family and friends, and he created many wonderful traditions that will be carried on. He was fun and adventurous, and loved to travel. Nate also loved to host parties and enjoy good food, especially meals prepared on his Traeger. His favorite pastime was enjoying time with his family at their cabin in Shaver Lake.
Nate will always be remembered for his joyful nature and his legacy of sharing his gift of music
