It’s heartbreaking to see the demise of this once idyllic neighborhood. What beautiful homes they were. The first house in this video was my favorite. Will never forget the sight of the incredible chandelier forlornly hanging in the half demolished home. If I had been a homeowner there I would be devastated to see everything including the trees just erased from existence. Although I’m glad lots was salvaged there is still so much waste. Im glad you were able to document this whole neighborhood. Ethan you are so excellent at what you do. Thanks so much for sharing. Take care be well and stay safe.
It's so sad to see such beautiful homes just destroyed. Thank you for sharing all the beautiful homes with such beautiful woodwork, amazing staircases, beautiful fireplaces etc I also am sad when trees are cleared out too 😔
Ethan, I’ve been watching your videos for a while, but i am still flabbergasted every time. All of these houses set to be torn down are newer, bigger, and nicer than any home I’ve ever lived in. How nice it must be to be so wealthy to throw away hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions of dollars.
Oh Ethan..the first house with the beautiful chandelier broke my heart. When you showed it being demolished and that beautiful chandelier was still hanging in the rubble broke my heart. That was my favorite. Thank you for your hard eork documenting these lovely homes before the greedy developers bull doze them. 😢
Ethan I really appreciate you doing the before and after pictures of what they’re doing to these homes it really helps to put everything in the right perspective of documenting these homes that are getting tore down and in the last the first home my youngest son was born in 1981 that was funny😮😊❤
Flooding usually occurs in these situations when the water table in the area is high and therefore requires sump pumps to prevent the basement flooding. Once the power is cut to these homes, there is no longer the ability to keep the ingres of water at bay.
I don’t know but at the first house I missed a wardrobe. Would you not put your coat somewhere by entering a house, let alone shoes. Maybe the first room was a walk in closet. The second room might have been the parlour for guests. And then the flooding. How the hell do they build basements. I am living between three bogs and my basement is just fine. No pump in need. Seriously we call it build a basement in a tub and in addition there is drainage around the house. The tub is a concrete steal construction, floors and walls constructed in a way where water cannot permeate in. The drainage leads rain and water in the surrounding soil into the canal system. Every time it just puzzles me how all these houses are flooded in no time.
These homes just like other videos are gorgeous and it breaks my heart seeing these places abandoned but like you I also love finding them to explore. Thank you for sharing each one you discover. I haven’t been able to lately.
Those old cabinets were likely well built. I bought cabinets like those to put into my new home. All I had to do was have them refaced to match the new doors I had made. I spent a fraction of the $ it wouldn't have cost if I bought new ones in the same quality. Why spend $30 K if you don't have to?
Eh, as big as tgey are, and how many have flooded basements, and out of date heating systems, and most folks want the latest fad in houses, it's almost cheaper to tear down and build new. Big sigh
This is just a heads up and FYI cause I didn’t get to comment on your video, I think I fell asleep, but I really appreciated when you went to that cul-de-sac with the Italian homes and all that landscaping all those trees it took like close to 20 years for them to get it to where it was looking the way it was when you took it at the beginning and it took just a couple days to Take it apart. It’s just a shame I just had to say that because I really enjoyed the video but it made me sad at heart as well. 💔. Take care of Ethan and be safe.❤🤠
Hi Ethan, I loved this house, ...another perfect house being pulled down ..lovely fireplaces ..and lots of ground ..fabulous ...thanks for sharing stay safe well and happy 💋
1. the fireplace screen was brass. you have the correct idea of a time capsule. I would like you to add the demo pictures and after demo. i always wonder about the back stories. 2. very nice kitxhen i wish it was close enough to buy it for myself.
This was an amazing, though heartbreaking, video. Sad to see such classic, almost vintage mansions destroyed....such craftsmanship and elegance all gone.
Hi Ethan 😎🏎😴,I guess you can’t stop developments and atleast you have the video documents of these mansions compared to “the now” all gone. Maybe make a short video of the new buildings being built there, show it from far away, idk just an idea. I wonder why all the mansions flooded, what causes that. Anyway I bet the owners of each mansion probably got a good amount to move out IDk lol but it’s good you did all those 🏡. Looking forward to your next video 😁😎🏎💨see you next time and always stay awesome 😁👍
Love the custom window treatments...curtians. I made and installed them. Loved my work. Never worked day, I loved to do it so much. Never advertised, cause I was good. People would find Me from family, and friends. Should see some pics of y work!!! I knowyou would be awesome doing something like that.
Hi I’m new with you love your videos fantastic homes shame they all went you are doing a great job I will continue to watch your videos thank you for what you do
Ethan, it seems to me like a lot of these homes that get demolished, for some odd reason why is the basements always flooded like that? I don’t understand what would cause that if you could, please let me know. Thank you. Take care and be safe.❤😊🤠
Because when they shut the power off, the sup pump cannot work to pump out the ground water. Rain and melting snow causes the ground water to rise. So the basement fills with water.
Interesting house. Luv the big rooms & lots of them. I'm with u on the vandalism poor upbringing & the people who were crying about it were failures as parents. Thx 4 sharing Much luv Carry on
Give me those older appliances anyday. They are from a time when things were built to last. I bought seven new appliances ten years ago and four of them quit within three years old. All junk now a days.
I LOVE THIS 1st HOUSE !!! Very spacious and love the colors ! Love the hexagon(5) or pentagon(6?) (?)windows. Just a gorgeous home. Love the cheerful colors ! It's just beautiful !!! Why denolish these perfectly good homes ??? So wasteful 💔
This is so sad 😢Many people including myself only dream of living in a house like these! What a waste! At least it looks like some of the contents are being repurposed 🙂
Ethan, can you only imagine the memories that were made in that home if it was an original owner it’s hard to depart when a home is liking that to be a part of your family because you lived most of your life in that dream home so I can understand why perhaps they did what they did and when you do have a very high-quality built home, you don’t have to replace a lot of things it’s going to last forever if you take care of it, and those cabinets were called back in the day washed oak and I bet you it was real oak cabinets but it is a sad situation and I don’t understand why they would do this, but I’ve always said several times on your channel already. Anyways, you take care. 😮 Thank you for sharing and be safe.❤😢🤠
The median home price in the US in 1988 was $132,000. In Canada in 1988 the median home price was $229,000 the price difference is a lot IMHO. Today there's still a big price gap in median home prices US Vs. Canada. The house I grew up in near Phoenix, Arizona was built in 1967 and sold for $12,500. When my parents sold it in 2006 they got $360,000. The latest sale was in 2021 $575,000. I wish I would have been smart enough to get into real estate when I was on my mid 20's.
I understand leaving it how it was found but at the same time all these abandoned places I see so much that could get sold and repurposed, there's just so much waste
Thanks for taking us on your on these prestigious homes up for destruction. What a waste. 😢 These homes in my opinion weren’t resided in very long. Ethan could you find that out on these places? Take care.
Why would anyone demolish this beautiful property unless it is an unsafe area for people to live in. Wow, what a nice home, it would break my heart to leave a home like this and know that it is going to be destroyed.
It also looks like for the designer of this home, used a pastel palette To give his future home Owners a choice of colors. I’ve lived a lifetime myself, and I’ve never been able to be given the opportunity to choose and make the choices of what I wanted it to my home, and that’s very rare to find when you’re able to have that kind of money to design and make choices of what you want in your own home it’s just awesome home😮😢😊
It’s like these nice homes are getting knocked down because they were bad. I loved your tour so many features, the staircase etc... no trace of history for these places, so Thank you for caring about the lives of these places. Some people like to remember a fondness of living in past homes. But like I always say these realtors could’ve had some bare spots of empty land sold to the developers, and hold auctions on these homes that aren’t on the market but make some bids on land and just fix up these precious homes.❤ Watch the nose getting curious about the fridges😂
If other homes had a basement like this one, they were nice also. Home is very nice. Hopefully they will salvage more prior to demo. All the homes you toured were extremely nice. Have no idea where you are or these homes, but if it's like California was the builders started selling homes from blue prints. To me, and just my opinion, you really can't tell what a home is going to look like. Yes, you get a general idea, however it's not like seeing the real things. That way they were able to get the good faith money up front and if you decided not to buy you lost that money. Builders really made out that way. I would never have purchased a home in that manner, many did. You always put up great videos, you tone down language, where others don't, and believe you appeal to more people. Thank you for being so courteous as I really appreciate it.
Those appliances ( oven / dishwasher from the late 80's will probably outlast new ones from now. New appliances last 5 or 6 years. There just junk now.

What a shame that they are tearing down these places

First house was amazing! So sad that all these houses get demolished. Great video.
@ 29:10 I love the oak trim and the oak cabinets ... gorgeous!!!
That's my personal favorite!!
your on a roll Ethan .jts sad to see newer homes getting demolished .😢i want my MTV takes me back to my youth in the 80s great shirt Ethan
Beautiful, can’t believe these places exist. Thank you for sharing.
Great videos you are so detailed which is great. Why are so many basements flooded lately?
That’s why I was coming into the comments to see why they were getting flooded each one I’ve seen so far they’ve been flooded
Flooding usually occurs in these situations when the water table in the area is high and therefore requires sump pumps to prevent the basement flooding. Once the power is cut to these homes, there is no longer the ability to keep the ingres of water at bay.

I just started watching your videos and now I'm addicted. Thank you for doing these. I love them.
Thank you for sharing. Does anyone know why all these houses were flooded? Was there a storm of some type?
These homes just like other videos are gorgeous and it breaks my heart seeing these places abandoned but like you I also love finding them to explore. Thank you for sharing each one you discover. I haven’t been able to lately.
One of your coolest finds man
These homes must have been beautiful when they were built. It is a shame that all fourteen homes have been demolished. Great video Ethan. Thank you.❤❤
Good Work Ethan 👍
Those old cabinets were likely well built. I bought cabinets like those to put into my new home. All I had to do was have them refaced to match the new doors I had made. I spent a fraction of the $ it wouldn't have cost if I bought new ones in the same quality. Why spend $30 K if you don't have to?
Whenever there is a sunken room, i worry that if im tired, i wont look at where in going and hurt myself
Yes, that would make me nervous to.
These were such huge, beautiful homes, so many awesome architectural details. Such a sad thing to see them wiped away!😐
Hello Ethan 👋 I just got done watching your other long video ❤️I love this 😊 Thank you 😎
Ethan I love your videos! I like the fact that no matter what property you are exploring you appreciate them all ❤
Thanks again - these house are totally salvageable
Eh, as big as tgey are, and how many have flooded basements, and out of date heating systems, and most folks want the latest fad in houses, it's almost cheaper to tear down and build new. Big sigh

Hi Ethan, I loved this house, ...another perfect house being pulled down ..lovely fireplaces ..and lots of ground ..fabulous ...thanks for sharing stay safe well and happy 💋
Very beautiful homes ! Thanks for the videos ❤
Great videos. Sad that they are gone.
Why did this happen?
1. the fireplace screen was brass. you have the correct idea of a time capsule. I would like you to add the demo pictures and after demo. i always wonder about the back stories. 2. very nice kitxhen i wish it was close enough to buy it for myself.
Ethan some nice houses thanks for the documenting them in the demod day
I look forward to your videos! You are my favorite explorer on RUclips ❣️
I love the first house. The stairs are so amazing!
Thanks for the video
Wow what a shame. Your the best at home videos. Keep up the great work! Thank you
Thanks for showing us these homes remember them well and it's sad they're all gone now😊
I think the fireplace surround is brass. Nice explore!
This was an amazing, though heartbreaking, video. Sad to see such classic, almost vintage mansions destroyed....such craftsmanship and elegance all gone.

Another great video!
You should have worn those knee high fishing boots and walk around in those basements
They say it gets cold when there's spirits around! Lol! 😊
Ethan you need waders for the flooded basements
$300,000 will get you a 2 bedroom shared-lot condo in Idaho right now 😭😭😭
Good to see ya, Ethan!
Hi I’m new with you love your videos fantastic homes shame they all went you are doing a great job I will continue to watch your videos thank you for what you do
It's beautiful the colors and rooms are so big
Thank You😊

This house was amazing! Why were they demolishing these houses?
That first house we saw was very well taken care of. That house was loved. It was gorgeous.
The bathroom tile of the first house just screams 1980s 😂 miss the 80s gen x for life.
Give me those older appliances anyday. They are from a time when things were built to last. I bought seven new appliances ten years ago and four
of them quit within three years old. All junk now a days.

And I thought Americans were wasteful lol
I love those pannal mirrors in the 4th house. Had a whole wall in my childhood home foyer. Brings back memories! ❤❤
This is so sad 😢Many people including myself only dream of living in a house like these! What a waste! At least it looks like some of the contents are being repurposed 🙂
I agree with you, a time capsule house is from the architecture, not the garbage and personal possessions on the floor. Thanks!
Yes, the window above that toilet is portal-style.
That first house, all that came to my mind was this lil ditty; "LIL PINK HOUSES FOR YOU AN ME"! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Very cool story!
Window is octagon. 8 sides. Port windows are round.
There were a lot of orbs in these houses. Did anyone else notice? Especially the first one
All these houses have their own personality. It's a shame they were demolished.
The bathroom window was called simply a Octagon Window. My parents had one added to the home where I grew up.
It’s BRASS bro ❤😊
Amazing 😍
My Jam! Love the 80s.
Omg i have the same type of that hallway light fixture in my home too. 😅😂
Antique Gold fireplace surround, Ethan
I remenber these beauties. How sad they are all gone. Such a big waste. Do appreciate the return trip Ethan, thank you. Real shame.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

So I watch many videos of yours always, awesome. I’m from Texas enlightened me why so many basements get flooded like this one and why or how?
Electric off. Sump pump not working.so water fills the basement
I can't believe that these beautiful homes were tirn down. Sad
Love the pink bathroom in the first house ❤
I better still be subbed! 😊
Cool 👍👍👍
If it's still all a dirt field, what did they demolish them for and when are they building it?
So many flooded basements. 😯
I understand leaving it how it was found but at the same time all these abandoned places I see so much that could get sold and repurposed, there's just so much waste
Ethan you are so smart, to figure out that closet is for hanging things.🤣🤣
Thanks for taking us on your on these prestigious homes up for destruction. What a waste. 😢 These homes in my opinion weren’t resided in very long. Ethan could you find that out on these places? Take care.
In the first home, you mentioned about a port window. That’s what it is and that color of those cabinets is what they called washed oak just an FYI.❤😊
Why would anyone demolish this beautiful property unless it is an unsafe area for people to live in. Wow, what a nice home, it would break my heart to leave a home like this and know that it is going to be destroyed.
Brass, the epitome of luxury, just like oak or marble 💚
It also looks like for the designer of this home, used a pastel palette To give his future home Owners a choice of colors. Awesome
I have another tip get some light for your recorder For dark areas because I don’t have night vision
I'm glad I wasn't hungover while watching the first house tour. The way Ethan was swinging the camera around made me dizzy. lol
Cool
Sup from Kentucky❤
Amazing places

I've always wondered about sticky notes on things. Are pieces to be salvaged and by who?
Those appliances ( oven / dishwasher from the late 80's will probably outlast new ones from now. New appliances last 5 or 6 years. There just junk now.
Fireplace screen bright brass.
Sad for the residents who were living in the perfect house for them and intended to spend the rest of their lives there.
