Thanks Jim. Unfortunately due to the rigors of life Sellick (me) hasn't been able to knock out these review videos as much as I'd love to have. As you can imagine they take quite a bit of time to knock out with not much reward other than these sort of comments so +1 like back to you Jim!
Ogres have my heart currently, but if I'm feeling hordey, this is where I'd be heading next. Which is weird as Gobbos would be the ideal option. Good work team!
Quick note on Phalanx, you won't ever get -2 to hit with spearspikes, as Phalanx only kicks in if the target is unhindered. You'll need phalanx and ensnare to stack them.
Here I am thinking about halflings as it’s an army I’ve never played. GW only gave you smatterings of halflings in the past. It seems a bit hordy to me, so that’s a small turn off for me, but they do seem compelling still. Wish they had some Tree herder action as a big giant model. And it would fit their theme also. Gotta give a nod to Tolkien. Thanks a great deal for sharing your thoughts on this army.
You don't need to play them hordey at all. I play in 3 different army styles. Flying circus with aeronauts/grenadiers. Mixed arms with trolls, tanks and shooting and my current favourite oppressive firepower and speed with lots of wild runners, organ guns, troll gunners with grenadiers as chaff to buy me turns to shoot. Extremely versatile army and never felt the need to buy into the cheap horde side of things which other armies do way better.
@Wade Weigle playing with it and against quite a lot I'd say its a perfectly fine balanced army. Very jack of all trades master of none but with the ability to skew if desired. It has lots of synergy and support pieces you can add in that completely change how units work too. One of those armies you don't get bored of quickly as it has multiple builds.
Really great content. glad i stumbled across this.

You never know what Mantic will be bringing out for the Halflings in the future I guess!

The flying circus is so expensive money wise, but it does look so fun. I’m wondering how competitive the army is also. Thanks for the reply.
