Navy here; thought because I’m good at navigating cities I’d be good at land nav. First time I did it the instructor truck came to pick us up after we didn’t show up to the nav point 30 minutes over time. Turns out we were 1km off our destination… the entire nav was supposed to be 1km
I was a land nav instructor it was great. I had find lost fuckers all the time. People sometimes were mile of the course. We used mail boxs as location identification. Sometimes, I would put beer in them.
I love how in tune you are with all the branches. Most would leave us Coasties out, or have some stupid cop out to make fun of us in a demeaning way. But we literally do still learn celestial navigation, so it's accurate as hell.
As Army Reserve, I did Annual Training in the field. 1 year we had Air Force with us, they would not want to tell us where they stayed, later found out they stayed at the Hilton! Their hardship was that "they had to share rooms" 😂
CG sea story: XO thought that it would be a good activity that around 1900 underway, near Columbia to do some “training”. He gathered all the JOs on the bridge and turned off all of our navigational displays. I was the helmsman, because at the time I was an E3. So he was teaching them to steer based off of stars. Needless to say I got a lot of very confusing commands. Additionally, we got about 3 miles off course very quickly. Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk
Went on a two week deployment to train and build for a veterans retreat. Arrived to our room and ones of the airman said, “where’s the TV?” …. Tell me served in the Air Force without telling me you served in the Air Force! 😂
I was AF, and I taught my shop and many many others land nav, successfully I might add. I literally watched a team of army grunts wade through chest deep water in a swamp in SC because he didn’t know how to route a course around an obstacle. Him and his team just made the stagnant swamp water their b¡tch.
On behalf of all the soldiers I'd like to submit that lack of information may not have been the cause. Army just does stuff like that. We don't even know why honestly. Just "water" and "swim" were the first two words that came to mind. An additional E4 may have prevented the additional labor. Or maybe the longer, wet solution was to avoid something even more tedious like erecting camo nets or helping put up the swanky GP medium the cadre inhabit. Either way, thanks for the memories to everyone involved. Made this old grunt smile.
@@zebteevee that was the funniest part, none of them minded. They completely the course in about half the time. I specifically picked the course because I had assumed everyone would want to avoid the water. None of the AF teams wanted to get wet so they set way points to navigate around obstacles that would get them wet. I even prefaced the exercise with “There are real live gators in the swamp” thinking that would surely deter anyone from picking that option. But after that class, I had to specifically say “stay out of the swamp”.
In the world I'm a Land Surveyor. When I was taking to long on planning a traverse my instrument man would call the rodman and say "...hold up, he's consulting his MCI Land Nav book."
As an Air Force-ian, I legit scoffed when I read the title and said, “I’ll take GPS for 500 please, Alex.” And surely enough, you knew. 😂😂. Don’t get it twisted, we CAN read the map and do all of that extra stuff, but… why, would we? 😂😂
Fellas in the armed forces non special operations unit but if you ever hear anyone in the special operations unit say "where the fuck are we" just keep in mind that if they're fucked you're fucked just not as bad as they are
Puddle Pirate one is off. They don't use the stars to navigate. That would imply they go far enough away from shore to need to navigate. Naw, they just look for the nearest landmark on the coastline. Navy is on point, though.
first, i love you say ‘please’ to Siri. second, I demand the navy bro always contains a water bit - i thought it would be a waterpark not a chow hall 😭
Dear sir, you’re very correct about the Army land Nav. I would shoot a back Azimuth and go from there. But nowadays everyone has a plugger. IE GPS. So land navigation is currently a joke that can be done from your IPHONE or Android.
Marines been complaining about broken hand-me-down Army crap ever since the Army was born. Doggies, take better care of your shit, we have to use it after you're done with it.
Talking smack on space force. Our country made that for a reason and they know something we don't, be it alien life or a catastrophic meteor. There is a reason for them. IDK what it is yet. But there's something going down.
I was expecting a "Land Ho" or "Seems we've run aground Captain." From Navy
I expected air force to either be lost, in a plane, or not there at all 😂
Hilton Garden Inn, please and thank you! lol

I do my best.
Air Force had me rolling 😂😂😂
As Army Reserve, I did Annual Training in the field. 1 year we had Air Force with us, they would not want to tell us where they stayed, later found out they stayed at the Hilton! Their hardship was that "they had to share rooms" 😂
I know. Air Force is so funny!!😂
Hahahahahahahahahahaha omg! Spaceforce getting their revenge for all of us calling them nerds!
Turn off all the satellites 😂 damn, poor Air Force is hit then 🤣

Navy: "Land navigation? What is this archaic madness?"
I did land nav at Camp Shelby, MS in July. Yep, I found all my points and used that compass like my life depended on it.
Appreciate you including the Coast Guard and not being a dick about it 🤣
As an Airman i was waiting for you pull out some form of technology and was not disappointed 😂😂
I would say that the Marines would probably just be like well time to blow up the forest so we can see everything
Went on a two week deployment to train and build for a veterans retreat. Arrived to our room and ones of the airman said, “where’s the TV?” ….
Tell me served in the Air Force without telling me you served in the Air Force! 😂
As a corpsman, yeah both marines and navy are accurate
I actually enjoyed land nav in the Army. It was nice to be away from people for a while. But man those spiders were brutal.
Not the 33 area chow hall!! 🤣
I almost choked on my popcorn when you got to Air Force!😂 note to self: eat no food when you watch Nick!!

@@djlee3276 lol & am not even surprised. xD
As a marine, i love the marine jokes.
Had to watch this 10 times. Was laughing so hard couldnt hear the other branches after Marines.
When I would do land nav, and didnt have someone along who DID know what to do, we would find, hide, wait and stalk a group that was doing good
Navy just confused why there’s trees in their ocean!
Theyre mangroves 😂
You did the Marines wrong, we definitely would have found a swamp, jumped in and then lost our compass in the $hit. 😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 bro one time we were doing a field exercise and got lost for 6 hours. 😂😂😂 just fell of the chair again
So hilarious!! I’m still laughing!! 😂😂😂
😂😂😂 keep making videos man! You’re really funny!
Space force having intrusive thoughts 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You know they have to be tempted at times.

Wait till night time ...Stars will come out tell us which way too go....😂😂😂....
Marines are always joking around like that😬
Bro, you’re a character. I love all your vids!😂💯
Waka Waka....you are hi-larious. lmao!
Hilton that takes honors points - cracked me up!
I will never not hear those backup beepers ever again. I swear it's worse than my tinnitus.
Fellas in the armed forces non special operations unit but if you ever hear anyone in the special operations unit say "where the fuck are we" just keep in mind that if they're fucked you're fucked just not as bad as they are
Why was I expecting Space Force to be wearing a tinfoil hat?
Potato
When he said hey siri my phone lit up LOL
As a former Cav Scout... Accurate...
Puddle Pirate one is off. They don't use the stars to navigate. That would imply they go far enough away from shore to need to navigate. Naw, they just look for the nearest landmark on the coastline.
Navy is on point, though.
My team has members from all branches (we don't acknowledge Space Force) and you capture all of our attitudes so well.
The Air Force was great.
I did appreciate the A-10s though - believe me.
Navy just wants to know why there's dirt here, and where their next omelette can be obtained.
first, i love you say ‘please’ to Siri. second, I demand the navy bro always contains a water bit - i thought it would be a waterpark not a chow hall 😭
YOU TRIGGERED MY HOMEPOD
LT why are we in water I thought this was land Nav?
Ah yes...the dining facility...they have...WATER. i can smell it.
Was he trying to wear a visor for space force???
Air Force, LOL

😅😅😅😅😅😅😅Space Force
Heh navy already know where to go and know where we’ve been
America: "Dont make me turn off the internet"
I'm in IDF infantry commanders course right now. You guys call it a smith? Lol.
Land nav is impossible tho idk how I'm gonna learn it 😂
Call what a Smith?
Another reminder of life's failures. I should of joined the Air Force.
Bro my Siri actually went off
Blub blub?
So, bottom line, the Navy is the only one that actually found it.
Very much... the bottom line...
MAKE SPACE FORCE AIR FORCE SPACE COMMAND AGAIN #DefundSpaceForce
Marines been complaining about broken hand-me-down Army crap ever since the Army was born.
Doggies, take better care of your shit, we have to use it after you're done with it.
😊😊😊
Yes…
😂
How dare you! We use Marriott, not Hilton.
Ra. Ra ra?
I love how the Marines screwed over the Marines.
It was for a laugh though. Worth it!
Do one without using cliches
Then it wouldn’t be amusing at all 🫶
Talking smack on space force. Our country made that for a reason and they know something we don't, be it alien life or a catastrophic meteor.
There is a reason for them. IDK what it is yet. But there's something going down.
They made it as another way to transfer our tax dollars to their friends
I feel like you should have did enlisted vs officers on this one
The Navy finding a DFAC instead of a galley and not being confused. Is the only unrealistic part of the short.
Hey maybe it was a green side corpsman!
