Mag drill HORROR STORY ......... About 8' up a ladder on the side of a tank, drilling with a great BIG old B&D mag drill that must have weighed 75#. When a mindless CLOWN on a towmotor runs over my power cord, tearing the plug out of the receptical.
No, I didn't have the drill tethered, and I didn't drop the drill, but I DID tweak the HELL out of my back when that drill came loose.
    ALWAYS tether that tool.

I drunk bought that exact vevor mag drill last winter, I’ve been nothing but impressed with that unit, the oiler is in the way so it got tossed. Have owned a Milwaukee mag drill for years and at this point I use the vevor more especially for smaller holes

I always liked to have a stack of pallets under the area where I'm drilling, both to set the drill on when moving it and also for a possible emergency landing. I've always thought that there should be an interlock so you can't turn the magnet off while the drill is running but nobody seems to do that.

Great video Andy, very informative as you explain what you are doing and why.. I'm like the look of the mag drill. I've been looking at them for some time now and this one is the sort of thing that would suit me, as I'm only a "diy" mechanic so I wouldn't be using it every day like you said in the video, the only factor left for me witch you weren't sure about would be price...

Sharing knowledge: When I'm having issues mounting a mag drill on a piece of work (repairing railroad bridge steel structures). I'll clap on a piece of 1/2" steel plate first. Then set my mag drill up on that so the mag drill has a flat solid base to mag off of. Best wishes with the new tool.

In another video I watched of these drills, a guy did reverse the handle on it, so you can actually do it, but you have to undo it, so it's not a super quick and simple thing to do, but can be done in about 3 mins if you wanted to do it.

I Have a similar mag drill as the Vivor for work and with Cobalt alloy annular cutter drills it cuts mild steel like wood and Hardox like normal steel!
The only thing missing on the cheap drills are a speed setting to slow them down for drilling harder steel.

Hi Andy, I want to sound thick headed and say that with my experience on the Milwaukee mag drills that there is nothing better, BUT when trying to climb a ladder or rig it vertical, there’s nothing like a mag drill like that only weighs about half of what the Milwaukee weighs. I just wish the little mag drills went down to 250 rpm also

There are some in the step above the cheapest segment that offer variable speed settings, which is almost needed for hardened steel or you'll have a high risk of burning the expensive cobalt cutter... guess how I know.

Hey there Andy, I hope this finds you well? 🙏
That Vevor sounds like my ShopVac, and it sounds as if its turning a whole lot more RPMs than your Milwaukee, so as to make it seem like its more powerful than it really is, which means it'll smoke a bit faster than Hunter B can smoke a pipe. 🔥
That truck looks awfully long, do you have a new box ready to mount? 🤔
I hope you have a good one my friend! 🫡
