Worth noting that this album is produced by the same guy who worked on Rolo Tomassi’s ‘Time Will Die And Love Will Bury It’ and Loathe’s ‘I Let it In And It Took Everything’- I find them all really similar in style on this track. One of the reasons this is probably my favorite song of the year thus far is that it plays on that contrast between itself and what you remember as being what Pupil Slicer sounds like. The whole record is very much leaning into their metalcore/thrash/prog metal influences, and this arrives as the penultimate track to sort of deliver a heavy melodic catharsis within the context of the album. It does end up heralding the ‘end’ of the story, which is actually pretty heavily emphasized since it’s a concept album, the final track really delivers that closure that’s absent here. It’s a brilliant moment, but it does have more gravity within the album itself. It’s a beautiful examination on identity, and I think the toxicity you’re keyed into is actually between the main character and themselves, as a lot of this deals with a sense of fractured self. Great analysis as always!

Also, if you’re having trouble with the title, you mentioned how the morning is the beginning of a day, but it’s also the ending of the night, which I think broadly speaking can be seen as the struggles within the record, which deals heavily in science fiction and space, so seeing a sunrise signals the end of isolation or a journey, or just surviving a difficult ordeal, at least that’s where I’m at with it

Excellent read on the title and thanks for the info about lyrics. That puts a lot of this into perspective.

@@CriticalReactionsthanks for checking us out again! as for the resolution the ending is a leading tone into the last track of the album which starts on the tonic. With the unifying vocal work on the bridge most of the album is harsh up until this point so it works to merge those harsh with the more pure clean which are featured on this track

Opening gave me major Twin Peaks/Angelo Badalamenti vibes. Wasn't too surprised to hear that transition into more of a shoegaze sound, but having never heard the band I wasn't expecting the harsh vocals to come in! Definitely interesting shifts and each one kept me interested, with the really engrossing, hypnotic atmosphere tying it together. Good stuff. Will definitely be adding them to the list to check out.

I love this band, they are fucking insane. They remind me of The Red Chord, but on just the right amount of hallucinogens

Definitely reminds me why I love this album. This band deserves to be as huge as possible. Especially if they keep up their creativity like this on whatever they do next
