I cleaned up my leaf curl last year (2021). I started early, around may last year. Everyday I would inspect the tree and remove leafs that were curling up. Sometimes I would remove the entire limb if it was infected bad enough. They werent HUGE limbs, but they were not new growth either. The most helpful trick I found after spraying the tree several times, was to check the pH of the tree. I was surprised my tree was around 7.37 pH. I think this was contributing to the LEAF CURL problem. I bought a chlorine filter for the Spigot and filled a 5 gallon jug water bottle and pH'd down to the LOW 6 pH. I continued to just water the tree once a week when it was dry (my tree at this point was in the ground already for 3 years). As there summer continued I kept watering with water pH'd to around 6. This year I self polinated the tree as it had TONS MORE FLOWERS than it ever had. Just waiting to see the results of self pollinating. I am in zone 5 (Northern IL, near wisc border).
I also did the low pH water to our pear tree. The harvest was better than ever. It was sooooo good that 3 big limbs snapped because there was too much fruit on them. This year I bought a bunch of old used ladders from online. Someone in NY said that when his fruit trees are healthy - you always have to prop the branches up with ladders to prevent what happened last year.
    ** edit 1 month later:
I am disappointed and confused - we dont have any fruit on this tree. I was expecting a banner year with all the flowers. We were so excited about this years harvest because last years 3 nectarines were the best weve ever had. All 3 were very large and the sweetest we've ever had. I'm thinking that because we ha to remove several limbs last year to prune the disease out of the tree that it is still in a huge growth mode. I am worried because the tree looks really healthy, but all the new small leaves that are growing are immediately turning yellow and falling to the ground. Any Ideas 💡?

When spraying dormant oil & copper onto tree using hose end sprayer how does the water not wash away the product like rain would do if you applied right before a rain day. I don't understand how rain will wash it away but water application will not? Thank You

I have had hole shot and peach leaf curl affect my tree Georgia Belle at different times. They seem to require two different kinds of fungicides to prevent, but are applied on the same schedule. Can I mxi the two fungicides (Chlorothalonil and copper fungicide) together in the same sprayer for one application?

Man I can't win. My peach trees where perfect, green leaves and little peaches. People say you should spray to prevent diseases. So I sprayed 2 days ago and now today every leaf looks diseased. It was like the opposite. I used Captan and mixed Malathion in a gallon. What am I doing wrong? Should I wait to spray until I see spots? It's like my spray gave it spots.

If allowable, can the tree be covered with plastic after spraying in November zone 5? Thanks

How much spray/liquid per tree? Is a gallon enough/too much for one medium sized tree?

Cherries & pluots. I know because my cherries, pluots, peaches, nectarines all got it because before I knew what it was I had cross contaminated them. :/

Your video was very clear and helpful. Thank you! I am using a lime sulfur spray and my small tree is at the stage where the pink buds are visible but not yet opened. I had peach leaf curl last year. Should i still spray now or just wait until fall?

The goal is management rather than complete eradication. And the chemicals recommended in the video are scientifically proven to be the most effective.
