Tip: remove the VCT solenoid once the cover is loose and before you try to wiggle it out. Reinstall the VCT only once you got the cover back into place roughly. The VCT sticks up high.
So you skip taking the VCT valve out how are we supposed to know about that if you don't show it to us? You are the teacher, you are leaving out important steps that we need to know, we wouldn't be here if it was easy
I'm getting ready to do change the timing setup on my 5.4 3v. No issues, YET. 194k, I just figure it's time to get ahead of any issues. But its very intimidating !
I really enjoyed this video as im going to sub. Will be another go to if he has anymore 5.4 3v vids. Fordtechmakuloco has a 4Video Series on Timing Chain. I watched it the other night for the fun of it. The depth on his videos is awesome. I see TRQ going up in subs with this video. I Yet to watch any others.
The heater hoses are blocking the way, how did you pull the valve cover out? The video clip for this critical step was edited out. How did you put the new valve cover in? This is the most difficult step, and the video clip was also edited out.
It was difficult. Tip: remove the vct solenoid once cover is loose and before attempting to wiggle it out. Reinstall it only once the cover is roughly back in place.
BEWARE. This video leaves out critical parts of removal and replacement of the cover!! Read through the comments before attempting. Now that I am into this job, I'm a frustrated with how much info that was left out. I'm not sure I'll be able to get the cover back in, especially trying to keep the gasket in place. Very difficult!
This is video is not a true tutorial. He skipped the most important part which is the "PROCESS" of removing and replacing the valve cover and removing the VCT oil control solenoid located inside the cover. This is not a simple 11 minute job. If doing it yourself you'll easy spend 3+ hours with the proper tools and 5+ without proper tools. I don't wish this install on anyone
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR and remove the passenger front tire before you do this. You can get to all the bottom bolts easy that way. Especially that one on the fire wall bottom. Your welcome..
