Corn Snake Swallows Mouse Alive

- Quetzal, my adopted corn snake, is doing quite well for herself. I adopted her from a co-worker who was moving, and couldn't keep the snake. She eats hopper-sized mice, but recently, I've noticed that's not enough to quench her appetite. That's why I added a little snack for her after the main course.
Corn snakes typically do not constrict prey if it doesn't seem to be a threat. As you can see here, she had no problem downing the little mouse while still alive.
I think I found the perfect compromise between feeding in a separate enclosure and feeding in the enclosure. I simply empty the water dish and drop the prey in there. Tank aggression is believed to be a myth, but I was always concerned about my snake swallowing substrate when fed in the enclosure. This works!

At that size, no. The snake is smart enough to know when it needs to constrict. For defense, it has a strong bite and tough scales to protect the skin.

If we're all being honest we're glad it's not us and somewhere deep in most of us is this glee at watching the suffering of others because the fear and pain the creature is experiencing as it's being consumed completely alive is intoxicating. I firmly believe there is a sadistic side to everyone even if it's not prevalent or admitted. Humans and all animals to some degree are cruel bastards. The bigger and badder (or smarter) always enforce their will upon others as the Apex Predator. It also boosts the ego of a creature to consume another as that creature's ego is smothered physically and mentally. It's sick and twisted and like the smell of blood it's beyond exhilarating to indulge one's self in the taboo and macabre.
Some of us definitely wish it was us.

To you who are snake owners: You know it is animal cruelty to feed your snakes
with live food (animals such as guinea pigs, mice, bunnies, etc).
You say: "But it happens in nature that snakes eat other animals".
True. But the little animal had bad luck meeting and becoming snake food. You as the owner DECIDE that an animal will be snake food and then place it where the snake is in your home. So, it will be animal cruelty. Best of all, some snake owners even film when, for example, the bunnie will be food for the snake. Then show the video on RUclips when the bunnie will be strangled slowly by the snake. Talk about humiliating for the bunnie, being filmed and murdered at the same time.
A snake has to eat! And sometimes the snake dislikes the idea of eating prey that's already been dead, it's the real reason why people switch to live prey in the first place,
so I ask you Mullin godingar if your snake rejects eating thawed prey then tf u finna do? Let the snake starve?
@@khiyan_autistic the snake will eventually accept dead food, all snaked can get used too, plus, live feeding can be dangerous for snakes, my sibling had some snakes and a mouse somehow tore the snake from inside out... I ended up keeping that mouse, she was a real fighter and I'm glad she didn't give up when she got eaten.
