Thank you Craig. The last remnants of a history passed always call out to be recorded, I'm so glad you are. Nothing's truly gone until the last ripples of its e intended have faded away. Kind regards Andrew from Beverley, England.

A trio of very cool locations. A giant ice cream cone building and a Futuro house on the same property in the first one. That property owner was one miniature golf course away from the tourist hat trick. Nice work on all three images.

Great video as always! Route 66 is on my list. Glad you are photographing these gems along the way.

I always enjoy your videos Craig. Seems like you rarely bring your 4x5 out nowaday but anyway, thank you for making such great contribution to LF world. Tony from Melbourne!

+Tony Tran The 4x5 is being a bit neglected, but I am trying to dedicate myself to the 8x10 for the time being. The 8x10 is definitely a love/hate relationship. I am hoping to get a 4x5 reducing back for the 8x10 camera, so that I can shoot 4x5 with it also. There are some shots that are just too difficult (mainly depth of field) to get with the 8x10.

I haven't stepped up to 8x10 mainly because of budget but from a perspective of 4x5 user, I also feel that some shots i have to sacrifice something to get the "main thing" (DOF problem) but I'm sure that 8x10 has something that 4x5 will never accomplish or come closely. Self-explainable for most landscape film photographers - RUclipsrs choose 8x10 over 4x5. I'm hoping to get a try on 8x10 in near future to figure out the question.

Great! As usual :-) Did you contact printing 8x10?

    • @CraigSheaks
      @CraigSheaks  7 лет назад

+Michał Makowski Yes, I mainly contact print and enlarge to 16"x20".

The wierd thing that looks like a spaceship is a finnish made glass fiber reinforced plastic house called a "futuro house". Less than a hundred of them were ever made, so it's a rather unusual building!

Forgot to ask, how do you scan your negatives to use on the web and videos? I plan to have my 8x10 negatives drum scanned for large prints, but to preview them, I'm not sure how to proceed. Thanks...

I don't know how Craig scans 8/10 but I use HP Scanjet G4050. It was very affordable and will scan 8x10 transparencies and negatives.

I contact print most of the images traditionally in a darkroom then scan the prints for the videos. Occasionally I will scan a negative for the videos. When I do I use an Epson V700.

Spencer, the expensive drum scanners are a thing of the past. Have a look at the Epson Perfection V800 Photo scanner, it is a flatbed scanner, smart design, easy to use, with progamme dust removal, improve colors, etc, and yeas, scans include 8 X 10" format!

Foxglove963 That is what I actually bought. It's been great so far. Even made a 40x50 print already! Thanks!

    Thanks for sharing!

There are places that just call out to be photographed, filmed, videoed, or drawn or painted. Then they are gone. They get torn down, remodeled, painted, moved, changed, but are no longer as they were.Mind the force.

That's why you photography everything and don't get overly creative with the composition like this.

Enjoying your images Craig Sheaks, so good to see the Real USA. I like the way you see and capture your images. That the music does not overpower you. Could you let us know what is your " Viewing Aid " please.

I use the 58mm-150mm zoom finder. They are designed for 4x5, but it provides the equivalent of a 116mm-300mm for 8x10. I use it as a compositional aid for both formats.
