Cannibal Holocaust, Hard Candy, There Will Be Blood, and a handful of others are also in this strange category. This distinction is not entirely regarding the quality of the films themselves, but rather how the films made me feel. I believe that art should make me feel something. I feel like Eli Roth's movies are better in concept than in practice. Like if you took the same idea but gave it to a better writer and director you'd get a much better movie.
Roth didn't know what Evan was going to do? Well....that would be up to the imagination of the viewer.....and it would be far twisted than you think if they showed you.
It's hilarious but not in any intentional way. Lol I just think the whole thing is unbelievable. Which is why it's so funny. Two hot chicks don't just randomly turn up at your door. 😂
@@jimfaust6342 I don't think realistic scenarios are what Roth is interested in. Neither am I! A lot of the appeal of the films that inspired Eli Roth is the campy nature. Seems like he's just trying to pay homage to that. This film wasn't very good, but I agree with OP that the director knows exactly how ridiculous the premise is.
I loved clash of the titan. I grow up with the original and movie like Odyssey or the Sinbad movie. I think they did an amazing job with the new one. They keep the spirit of likable characters that got together for an adventure and one by one get killed. Knock Knock i haven't seen. ^^
Honestly for the free pizza line I'd always refuse it and might call 911 if it was suspicious enough. That is mostly due to hearing this one story about some kids that took a free pizza in the middle of the night, and they almost ate it but before they could their dog started eating it, and the dog either died or nearly died because of the pizza being poisoned. Could be an urban legend like the Halloween razor candies thing meant to make kids more cautious on Halloween, but hell the pizza story worked on me so if it was one it was effective at conveying it's message.
I think it boils down to your worldview. Do you think the universe is generally benevolent (or at least not malicious) or foreboding and cruel? Not accepting good fortune is a curse in and of itself, although sometimes you are going to get the shaft (but you'll have interesting stories to tell).
@@quintessenceSL The universe does not care. It does not subscribe to your standards of good or bad. Humans though, humans are extremely malicious creatures. There is no free lunch.
Death Game is such an interesting movie, and I *highly* recommend it. Some of it is AMAZING - truly unnerving and weird - with fantastic performances by Locke and Camp. Cassel is awkwardly dubbed the entire time, which is jarring. The ending is bonkers and ridiculous. It would have been a better project for Roth to recut the first movie and fix the problems.
As someone with a hint of body dysmorphia and still on a three-year (so far) diet/exercise routine, there's _no way in hell_ I'd fall for the proposed pizza at 2am bit. The DiGiorno on the bottom of my freezer best-by date was 2+ years ago.

I think they should have just kept the ending where the girls are hit by a van. It would have been a short surprise that went straight to the point
Father's Day with no wife and kids? Sounds like a winner to me!
Classic movie. I recommended it to my coworkers. Now they hate me.
I feel like Eli Roth's movies are better in concept than in practice. Like if you took the same idea but gave it to a better writer and director you'd get a much better movie.
Dude when I first saw this movie I was dying of laughter with a buddy
Roth didn't know what Evan was going to do? Well....that would be up to the imagination of the viewer.....and it would be far twisted than you think if they showed you.
I’m convinced this was meant to be a dark comedy. Roth is a lot smarter than people give him credit. All of his films are laced with satire.
Yep, it was an intentional dark comedy.
I think your giving him way too much credit
@@randomguy6679 I don’t think you’re giving him enough.

i also like the Clash Of the titans remake
@@mogensschmidt2498 The action scenes are still one of the best i have ever seen. Especially the scorpion fights are awesome.
Hot damn dude, getting sponsored by Lionsgate. Nice
Excellent video as always, sir.
Can't wait for you to do the Extended cut of super Mario Bros.
:)
I enjoyed this movie. Went in knowing nothing and it kept my attention.
Annnnnnnd Ana de Armas Becoming a Huge Star, All thanks to role as Bond Girl from No Time To Die.
Eli Roth is Ed Wood with much larger budgets.
I'm not a fan of Ed Wood, but I see that as an insult, to Ed Wood.......
Speaking of Seymour Cassel, will you able to review The Dependables aka Pride of Lions? This movie has Bo Svenson, Lou Gossett Jr., and Margot Kidder.
Could be good, could be bad. But if you're hungry enough, you might just not give a damn. And those ladies were deluxe pepperoni with stuffed crust.
Love this movie. I hope Grindhouse Releasing gets that restoration of Death Game out some day...
They have bonus material recorded but I have no idea what is holding up the release. Probably some rights issues.
@@GoodBadFlicks Bummer. I hope they get it out eventually

Eli Roth Approach to film making 101:
Step 1: Write "The Point" on anvil.
Step 2: Drop said anvil on audience's head.
Step 3: Profit. $$$
Say it with me Boys... "I didn't order pizza." -It's just that easy.
