I installed a set of evo’s on this particular guitar! Super tight pickups!

One pickup I highly recommend is the DiMarzio Steve's Special. It's incredible. It's high output with restrained mids which gives you a lot more clarity than most pickups, and it works great, cuts through great with awesome harmonics.

Played a mahogany RG with these vs another (older, also mahogany) RG with the V7/V8 and they feel related. Both “sound like mahogany” in their guitars with a relaxed midrange and lots of clarity and a surplus of lows. Fusion Edges seem more refined for the same general sound.
Some people think the V7/V8 are what Ibanez thought the JB/‘59 set should sound like.
Someone said the bridge and neck Fusion Edge measure the same DCR, implying 2 of the same pickup. This may be the case, but also, the DiMarzio Evolution set is 2 pickups with the same (or, same-ish) DCR, and those are definitely 2 different pickups. So, I wouldn’t be so sure.

i'm just having a set put in my HB amarok (i wasn't a fan of the nasal emgs). being direct mount, my options at my budget were limited. The FE are based on the titans- that's the only info on them that i could find!

I recorded some of my tunes with them. They have merit. Just a little shy of bite or upper mids. I replaced them with Steve Morse Model pups.

Exactly well spoken. Got a Ibanez rgd axion label a couple years back and I was surprised at the brightness, clarity and attack even if the output isn’t quite there. Which is better in the long run for cleans, chords and tighter single note riffing

Thanks! Even if you need more gain, just put an OD pedal into your signal

Yeah run mt2w and precision drive as main tone. Sounds good even with hm2w stacked in front after the overdrive.
In drop c 26.5 scale. Only downside is that it’s not coil split but I think I might get a 5 way switch or push pull pot installed some day

There are some differences in the clean tones, but once the gain comes in, the differences go out, expectedly. I don't personally care about how pickups "sound" anymore, because it's not important in the grand scheme, I just care about the output and how they look in the guitar. 😅

I think they sound great. They are very versatile. Ibanez has been using these pickups for years on multiple models.

I think the Fusion Edge pickups sound Great! Plus I really don't think Ibanez would put a sub-par pickup in their Prestige line guitars.

@@EricMorettin I have this Guitar myself and I absolutly llove the sound...In fact when I 1st got it I was prepared to replace the pickups because so many people rated them so so! Even highly respected reviewers like Trey who I adore. :) Most claimed the pickups were the weak link and that was solved easily. So...After a couple days I was thinking...Wow, I'm the only Guitarist who purchased this RGR652 and got an awesome set of pickups!! :) Anyways..Thank you so much for the glowing review! Glad to see a review thats based on actual sound and not a notion ! ;)

I just got the 7-string version of this guitar. I’m not really sure how I feel about how this guitar sounds quite yet. It doesn’t really have the bite that some other 7-strings that I’ve played have. I used to have a JP15 with the Illumnators in them and I really liked that. I didn’t really think that pickups mattered that much for metal tones but it just sounds kinda meh to me.

I think Ibanez chose these pickups because they're versatile. At the end of the day no guitar is perfect unless you custom order it with the exact specs and hardware that you want. But, for the price of this guitar, It's really hard to be, especially with the build quality. Pickups are easy to change anyways

Only from people with first hand experience with them. Ibanez only lists magnet type from what I recall, and Dimarizo doesn't list this on their site.

Plugged into Laboga Hector and 5151, fusion Edge is pure shit lack of power, gain, just pure shit.
    220mv pickups both.

For me F. Edges has a lot with Tone zones and sometimes reminds Air Norton in cleans, and less wound neck pickup, and it is no fantasy to suposse that Ibanez asked Dimarzio over the years an affordable good pickups for them exclusively (better than those Dimario/Ibanez from a lot of years ago) , and Dimarzio lately said, o.k. but what do you want to be like?? so the answer is very obvious XD, from both parts.
With maybe a little more high and low freq to sink a little bit the mids, but for me , after 3 prestige, this one fixed bridge, the same with Edge trem and a 5320 CSW, lately and after some changes i regret one and i think they are great for me, and in general i´m right with Eric, tried it, they are not the harsh average cheap guitars, they are really good and DEFINED. very CLEAR with lots of gain.
