Yup, for what i do, 8k60 is overkill, external battery + V mount will cost $300+, also put so much weight on the gimbal. This set up will save my money and my back.
This opens up a lot of possibilities IMO. Since RS2 usb c ports are not PD, that means this should also work for smaller 18w PD power banks instead of the chonky 45w PD types

Been using it at 6 weddings, no problems, not sure where do you see fried R5Cs :/. But I agreed that I don’t have enough infos to back this up as well.
@@anemotionfilms7722 On spec the adapter can provide acceptable power 7v 3A, but if there isn't actually a voltage regulator for whatever reason- and the DJI battery were to surge, it can push up to 15V+ into the camera. I've personally helped folk troubleshoot a fried R5C and the reason was the mini V-lock surged all 14.5V through the DTAP to dummy battery adapter into the camera because there was no voltage regulator in place to destroy itself instead of the camera in the event of overvoltage. So, you are safe with your current setup, until you're unlucky enough to experience a surge- then you are caught with a point of catastrophic failure in your system. So it's critical to know these things when operating professionally.
Hello! I have a quick question: I own R5c + RS2, but I can’t get my camera start to record with the RS2 record button. The button works for the focus when I’m in photo mode, but I can’t take a picture pressing the RS2 rec button. Is that normal? Is there any firmware I should update ? Thanks in advance for your answer. You are the only one I found on RUclips that owns this setup too. Best regards, Philippe.
I tried the record button, and it works just fine, the battery dummy hook up into the bottom usb C port, the record will be hook up into the top port. I don’t do photo, so I’m not sure how it work.
@@chronocross85 i never try to Zero, also it is depend on gimbal usage as well. I bought a new DJI battery. I went through a whole wedding with 2 DJI batteries
Hello! How are you? I think you don't need the dummy battery for that. Canon R5C can be powered via usb-c with a usb-c cable. I think you can use a usb-c cable from ronin into camera. Cheers
Is this safe for your camera? I love the idea of this, but I would hate to fry a $4500 camera with a $28 accessory. Also, the DJIRS2 firmware has not yet been updated for the R5C.
I understand your concern, I’m not expert to ensure you that it won’t fry your camera. I speak from real life test, i have been use it for 3 weddings already. I have done my research as well. There is no article that saying Zitay battery blow out the camera. However there are safer way out there, just bit more pricy and heavier
@@anemotionfilms7722 Yea we really need to find out if the adapter in this is voltage regulated. The DJI battery is BG30-1950mAh-15.4V. 15.4 Volts is more than enough to fry the camera's circuits if it were to power surge. People have already fried their cameras on unregulated 14.5V DTap connections :/

Thanks for the tip, I just purchased the dummy battery from your link :)
Done. This seems like a good solution to shoot on gimbal without having to use the battery grip for more power
I've read that 9v is needed and I see 7.6v on the adapter. Won't this damage something?
The Zitay dummy is one solution. Unfortunately it does not deliver enough current for 8k60 raw recordings.

@@a.very.special.commenter The only camera control that is supported by the RS2 for the R5C (and C70) at the moment is start/stop recording.
I did the same.

There is a little door that you can flip out to get the cable out
hi ..this work on rs3 ? has anyone tested if it works on the dji rs3? tx
In the description it says it doesn’t work with the r5c? Is it safe for the camera long term

Yeah Im not a tech savvy but I think it won’t hurt to try
I ordered this, doesn't work, ordered two of them, tested on my r6 and r5, tried all 3 usb connection on the rs2.
Worked for me

Make sure to do a firmware update on your ronin. It was doing that to me with my ronin S but it worked fine after I did a firmware update.
How many hours are you able to record until the Ronin battery dies?
I test from full battery to 50%. I got 46 min recording for 4k60

The USB-C ports on the RS2 are not PD capable. Nevermind, that you need a 45W PD port for the R5C. So that won't work.
