    There's a video somewhere of Maphis playing something very, very similar to the section of the 2nd Cruisin' solo with the 3 dissonnant double-stops. Not sure of the year (chronology between Maphis and Gallup on this specific lick).

      @@kpnash I've looked over and over and I can't find it. He's sitting on a stool, acoustic (if I recall). It might not be keyworded on "Maphis" but I ran into it on some other guitar search.

    Correct me if i am wrong but James Burton still played the rhythm guitar ? I think he played lead on the same album these songs appear on, on a couple of songs ?

      Well, the official James Burton's website states James did play rhythm on these songs while the first tune featuring Burton's lead guitar was recorded later, in March 1958 ('Believe What You Say'). So, looks like yes!
