Hey Bro, super clean songs this bass
I have been playing bass by ear for 20+ years and have never understood what it is that I am playing. I want to take things a step further to understand what I am doing and become a better player. I need to start with the basics and take it from there. Starting with visualizing the notes across the neck. Does tour system start me out at this point?
Yes
I learned where the notes are when I was young, thankfully. You need this to be in a band. But yeah I play by ear and I understand when I hear it only.
Ok so when you say play in 3rds and 5ths, what do you mean? How would I play that?
Play the root note & the 3rd of the scale. Next play the 2nd note of the scale & the 4th note (which is 3 notes from the 2nd...) & so on. It's trickier than how easy Daric makes it sound. This exercise is also great for working on raking
You play a major scale then after each root note, you accent with the 3rd note in the progression, it's like calling and answering yourself. Do that one first.

What brand Bass is that brothe ?
Question, coming down with 4th intervals, are we starting at the top note or bottom note of the interval? Starting at the bottom note feels easier than starting at the top, so I assumed that there’s a catch cuz it shouldn’t be that easy. 🤣
it is and should be that easy, doing it in 4th is probably the easiest. Don't forget the bass is tune in fourth. A is a 4th from E, D is a 4th from A, G is a 4th from D.
