Wow - Barry Gordon. He is still around, but has he ever done a lot since 1956. He was the youngest performer to hit a pre-Hot 100 Billboard chart when his "Nuttin' for Christmas" hit No. 6 in 1955. He was on countless shows all the way up through Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. He also voiced Donatello of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles videogames...in 2022. He still does radio and podcast work. He is also the longest serving President of the Screen Actors Guild to date.

Also nice to see father and son working together - Anthony ("Tony") Charles Thomas in the credits, the other lad auditioning.

He looks like the kid who guest starred in the Jack Benny Program a few years later. They were holding auditions for people to play in a movie about Jack's life and he played a child agent fur ibecif the show bis kid who was auditioning for the part of Jack as a little boy.
He was negotiating the kids contract with Jack and he asked for more money than Jack offered and the "agent" ended up being chosen by Jack to play him because he was acting like he did!

Barry Gordon,at a very young age starred in the film "A Thousand Clowns" opposite Jason Robards and had a pivotal scene opposite Gene Saks that brought down the house.

First kid was Tony Thomas, Danny’s son, and future producer of Golden Girls. And the agent for the little boy was George Jetson.

Barry Gordon! You couldn't think of a more pedestrian show than 'Leave it to Beaver' but the episode that he was in, his scenes were so much more dynamic--Good ol' Chopper! (LTB S4Ep2).

"Leave it to Beaver" was not pedestrian. It was extremely well-written, well-acted, humorous, and iconic. And yes, the Chopper episode was memorable. Maybe the gentle, wry, Midwestern humor of LITB was not to your taste?

To me this episode doesn't QUITE work because Rusty's singing was actually not at all bad. He was on pitch, and for a humorous kid act it would certainly work. It was better than Herbie's weird, spastic singing and dancing.

Ew, it’s weird when little kids act like adults (*heebee-jeebees*)
