I bought a banjo out of luck from an old man at the music shop. Repairs included paid about $80. Played guitar and keys... Bass. All sorts of instruments for many years. Are these 3 video lesson series the basis for all banjo playing if studied and mastered for just joining in and having fun? I know, silly question but I’m not professional by all means, I do play I just want a better understanding of the fretboard and when to use what I learn. Thanks for the uploads

You can either measure or do it by ear. To do it by ear just match the 12 fret harmonics to the notes sounded when you fret the strings at the 12 fret. They should be the same pitch. Either way works. This video may help too. ruclips.net/video/upDpi4JCPYw/видео.html

Hi sean.just learning the 5 string, because I'm a guitar player the chords are no problem but I'm having a time making any sense out of rolls, I can play them but they don't sound anything like Scruggs style..I got a older stew McDonald kit banjo not sure if it's decent,

Hi Anderson, That's a good beginner for the price. It should serve you well if you keep the head fairly tight and keep the bridge in the correct spot.

Should work fine. Take it slow and keep at.
