- When Myanmar’s military regime ended its flirtation with the representative government in February 2021, it marked the moment by killing several hundred anti-coup protesters and detaining thousands more - including Aung San Suu Kyi, the Nobel Prize-winning leader of the National League for Democracy.
So now some activists are taking a more aggressive approach to the Tatmadaw, as the country's armed forces are known. They have been heading to remote jungle regions to seek support from armed ethnic organisations, which have been waging their own on-off war with the Myanmar military leaders for decades.
People & Power visits a secret training camp to find out more.

The February coup may be a disaster for China’s interests, and Myanmar’s new military rulers (the Tatmadaw) indeed crave greater autonomy from unwanted Chinese interference, but the two countries will always be neighbors. But one of those neighbors is much larger-and has strategic interests that it will act to protect in the smaller country. Despite the military takeover undoing years of careful outreach to the now-ousted National League for Democracy (NLD) and destabilization spilling over into China’s Yunnan province, Beijing has accommodated itself to the junta while carefully hedging through both public and private pressure to come out on top in Myanmar.

'Resistance' or 'Ethnic minority' would be more appropriate to use than 'insurgents'. Still good for Al Jazeera for reporting this documentary. As someone who used to work in the Karen State as a development worker, the current situation is so heartbreaking. I admire these urban youth try to train themselves to fight against the national army. I don't want to see any more bloodshed in this beautiful country.

Myanmar must be divided into several independent states. without doing this solution, the military will never give up their power. To ensure peace & freedom in Myanmar the international community must change their position & must support ethnic states to get their independence from Burmese brutal army.

The law of nature suggest things will always have power over others and that's including humans. Do you want a world where elders won't even have authority over children? Like I said earlier power isn't bad or evil .. a responsible father has power over his family just as a dictator has power but the difference is when people willfully give you the authority and power out of trust vs taking it by force. I simply think it's natural .. I think it's unnatural when power is used for selfish gain rather than bettering the community that allowed you to have the power. If power is ever up for grabs then the most aggressive will always obtain it if others don't use the same force which is power. Even people power is still a power at the end of the day . I'm fine living in a world where people can have power over others. Taking into consideration that this isn't heaven and its not meant to be like it. We have to survive down here and even get people need power so they won't be bullied.

I'm from Indonesia, i think it'll be hard for a certain country to help. We want to help but we can't do it. One of our way is to exclude the junta military from ASEAN summit. We can't support in military way to Myanmar people, except if Myanmar people, make an Emergency government for people and than, Myanmar's people can ask for support officially to us.

China is also helping the rebels by supplying them with arms and ammunition. They are literally double dealing in Myanmar.
The moment the civil war starts, don't be surprised if Russia will do what they did with Syria's Assad.

China and Russia will not stop supporting the junta.Russia will get lots of money by selling weapons to junta while china need myanmar under dictatorship to get natural resources with cheap price as well as easy access to india ocean
